Khergit Khanate: Born in the saddle, and die in the saddle, these people hail from the steppes, they excel in horsemanship, and their leaders are master hit and run tacticians, prolonged engagements are the bane of their existence
The Rhodoks: They're the best at killing horses with their spears and men with their crossbows, they are perfect for defending areas and will do it with their lives, not surprisingly their kings are the same
These kingdoms have fought for centuries. They are in desperate need of nobles and vassals to help raise armies for their constant state of warring.

there isn't any streets or anything, it's a castle ,not a town, there are only the basic needs to stay alive, an armorer, mill, etc. all kept near the edge of the walls, the large middle area is completely clear

Doh! Well, with that in mind, I think we've got ourselves an advantage over the Rhodoks in melee combat.
Well then, we pull back into the clearing. Half the militia and the other units will form a shield wall, while the other half of the militia (the ones with crossbows) will fire upon the Rhodoks as they move in. When the Rhodoks break formation to attack us, we'll lengthen the line until two rows of men are in front of the brunt of the advancing Rhodoks. The rest will surround the Rhodoks, slicing at their backs while others defend the front. As said before, the Rhodoks won't risk hitting their own men until we thin them out enough that their ranged units will start shooting at us.
