Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.
Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________
Competition Guidelines :
1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!
Round 1: Knight
This months theme will be dedicated to creating a knight representing that of Armor Games, it is a non official character to try and stir the imaginations of artists and viewers. The artist should endeavor to embody Armor Games in a Knightly character.
Here is my entry:
I did it by hand in GIMP using the stock brushes that come with the program. I drew it all in the program, the circle, the shading, the mouth the eyes, etc.
if you draw digital I hope you know the two types of digital imaging that are out there . Vector and bitmap,if you don't I can tell you that each has its benefits but I really suck at vector art, considering it tends to have that auto smoothing quality to it...it hate me seriously auto smoothing hate me I must have jittery hands or something.
Anyways what would the light bulb look like if you had a bad idea :P
I was curious do Armatars support animated gifs? Because when ever we get to a contest I might consider trying a 2 or 3 frame Armatar animation.
this is my head it has spontaneous ideas from just looking at a light bulb...then I spurt them out as I type
Haha, no it does not @HecticHermit! The thing I never thought about was actually very VERY simple! If you start out with a square of 1500 pixels and zoom out untill you get a workable area, you save the image at a large scale, but it looks like Vector when using the smaller versions of it! Neat huh?! =)
Armatars do not support animated Gifs, no... it might be something for the future perhaps, though I have no clue as to where the Staff stands with this. Sorry for not having the answer to this! =/
And you wanted a 'Bad Idea Smiley Bulb'?! Here you have an angry one... =)
Angry Smiley Bulb
I can even make a proper 'Bad Idea' one if you want? I only need to flip the mouth upsidedown for that...
Since we are coming up on Halloween, I was inspired to create the above smiley for the current drawing contest. I'm not much of a sketch artist, but hope this suffices.
Ignore the random Chinese on the top; I drew this randomly on my homework a few days ago. I really need to get a scanner instead of taking low-quality phone pics...(it's even worse because I have to borrow someone's phone for this and they have no clue what I'm doing to it)
It's not based on Parasyte at all >_>
It's smiling, so it counts as a smiley face.
Edit: inb4 anyone says "I hope you're not insulting me with the Chinese on there", it's about weather. Except for the one sentence that says something along the lines of "I allow you to die", which was mostly for the benefit of the picture.
