So lately I have gotten into the band Asobi Seksu, a wonderful shoegaze-esque band that has long since moved on. This last part is important, as I have a tendency to be late to the show (per we) when it comes to discovering bands/artists (from Killer Mike & El-P to Gojira to Battles etc), as most of them have already established themselves, or have already moved on to other works.

So, what are some bands/artists you have recently gotten into that are already quote established (not in the sense of well known, but at least made a decent amount of works and/or has been around for a few years and had their 'break'*), and what made you finally discover them?

With Asobi Seksu, I first heard their song on EternalEnvy's stream..and thankfully someone was spamming what the song title was. I listened to it a few times, but only recently looked into other songs by the band.

[[*For example: Anamanaguchi has been around for a while, and while they aren't particularly famous or well known, they have a decent following and have played on Jimmy Kimmel]]

Pelican, Feared, Nile, Black Dahlia Murder, Fleshgod Apocalypse... just to name a few.

First song I heard from Fleshgod was The Violation. As for the other bands, I pretty much discovered them through the same means. I heard their names all over the place but never listened to them up until recently.

I like me some Seventh Wonder. They be Progressive Metal. Singer's voice golden.

I actually found this band because MrDayCee showed me this ridiculous 30-minute song they did which turned out to be good.

Daft punk

Hehe my favourits for a half year now.
They are making house music for 20 years now and they have such diverse songs so I never get bored.

I actually foundem by chance. One person showed me Pentatonix Evoulution of music so I took a second guess and founded a video viwed 200 milinon times so I went to see who did they made cover off.

And there they were, standying up and DJing, the Kings of electro-Daft punk.

Despite knowing about them for years, I never really "got" At The Drive-In until this year. Now they're one of my favourite artists. Whatever genre this is, they're masters of it.

This isn't exactly recent, but I found TesseracT in related videos on youtube and my jaw just dropped. I listened to this entire album in one sitting at 2am in the morning, and I still listen to it a year later, along with their other stuff. This band got me into Progressive Metal big time.

The singer has the most beautiful voice, and there are so many parts of this album that just make me amazed at the technical ability of the band, and the mental and emotional affect their music have on me. T me it's a really dynamic album.

I don't know if this counts but most of my favorite bands I have discovered postmortem (Fear Before, pageninetynine, Gaza, etc.).

Recently I've been getting way into The Devil Wears Prada- especially their Dead Thrones album- and Prurient. I usually get deep into a band or two that I've just discovered (old or new) a week so I end up being a bit late to the party a lot XD.

BTW @ShadowArchon I did the same thing a year after they released One. Such good times...
