Something of a different take on the theme. I aim to explore themes from multiple perspectives but I never really escape the Modernism that influences me. Which, I deem to be perfectly acceptable. Poetry needn't be subtle, it can be overt, but I would argue that it needs to leave the reader with something, even if that something is nothing but a question.

The Coming of the Raven

Upon the edge of tomorrow, rests the fading of the light.
When shadow forms its tendrils and breaks Man's sight.
And here upon this stranded shore, lay a corpse I've never known.
For once it was full of life, the body I called my own.

But now, hearken! The raven's calls to me
As this lifeless corpse of mine, is dragged closer to the sea.
Take this foul thing from this mortal world, this thing of flesh and bone.
Leave me to my restless sleep, for I shall reap what I've sown.

What fools tale will the tell of me, when the years have long passed?
When all but memory fades, except for the deed that I did last.
For death does not include, the washing of the sins;
Even when the last to recall them, will be the dark ravens.

Baby Bird Story

Tiny eggs appeared finally,
with somethings growing inside,
the snake eyeing them weirdly.
The parents at each side.

But the snake was very hungry.
Desperately he charged at the egg,
Made parents really angry.
They pecked him, they kicked him, a real blitzkrieg.

Left with no choice was the snake.
He needed to get back, dying of starvation,
now his face one eye it lacks,
thinking of redemption, waits he for salvation.

Suddenly a storm struck the forest,
the parents trying to fight, too afraid to take flight,
two eggs falling off the nest,
there appears the snake, succeeds to catch the rest.

Hard to contain his famine he finds, but he had the right minds.
"I have saved your children," chatters the serpent, among winds,
surprised were the parents, they thought; "Did he just save our baby?"
Though truth was solid, they pledged an alliance, still shaky

Soon grew the baby, looking like ruby,
his parents told him the tale of the snake's scale, grateful for his life,
one day they pushed him off the nest, thinking he may fly west.

Afraid was the ruby child, thought he was betrayed,
But opened his wings, with winds he played,
He thanked his parents, with forgiveness portrayed.

Reading all of your poetry gave me another idea haha

For All to Hear
Forgiveness is the new theme on our armorgames,
We will soon know the winner and runner up names.
We will also get to learn about forgiveness too,
As we read these poems that were written just for me and you.

Through these poems we'll learn about what it means to be a good man some day,
And how forgiveness starts tomorrow and not the same day.
It's also seen as a gift to oneself and the other,
All because we have been betrayed by the wickedness of another.

There might also be a time to reap for our own doings until they're sealed and gone,
For all the evil that we may have said and done.
Through these things you and I have explained here,
We can easily see why forgiveness and not anger should be portrayed for all to hear.

Here's something I quickly came up with:
Just Listen
It is not always easy to do
To let go of an action
That can destroy you.

But it is for the best
To hear the sorrow.
And forget the rest.

There is one word to say
A simple, "Sorry"
To make someone's day

So remember, forgiveness
can be a challenge
but leads to joyfulness

Hope you enjoy!

Hello fellow Armorians, here are the results of round 5 (forgiveness).

Runner Up
@BlueEyedBlondie
Healthy Gift

A person experiences many different things in life.
It can be peace, happiness, love, or just pure strife.
Just remember that these things are quite beneficial though,
For they actually teach and strengthen you so.

It's very simple when there's happiness and things go well,
But there's also those moments when things aren't so swell.
There's anger, betrayal, and all kinds of harm,
And the world just no longer feels all that warm.

Overcoming such things gives you power, growth, and sets you free.
It builds you up, gives you life, and helps you be.
It's especially true when the meaning of forgiveness is learned,
Because then true peace and joy has been earned.

Holding unto grudges through life is depressing and sad.
It can ruin you inside and out then just drive you mad.
Holding these grudges does no good at all but harm,
And those unneeded grudges really have no charm.

Life isn't easy, it comes with struggles to overcome.
You can expect to come across many, a few, or just some.
Either way, they are just obstacles in your path,
Which require a solution instead of something called wrath.

You must know that whether people make bad intentions or just mistakes,
Putting yourself into their shoes is all that it takes.
At times you might need forgiveness yourself to start over, it's true.
Yes, it's a wonderful present to receive, but giving it is one healthy gift for each side too.

Great poem about forgiveness. You have shown us a good moral lesson. The message you are conveying is truly a good one. Also, nice rhyming pattern. Keep up the good work.

I find that you have truly captured the essence of what forgiveness is here. You have followed the theme really well and have told a great story. You have improved since your last few poems and I applaud you for that. Good job!
