It's been a while since the last Armatar Contest... time to launch a new one for all you dedicated artists out there.

The new topic is one that has been on my list for quite a while... and as you may have heard, March 10th was international Super Mario Day! WA-HOO!

This pioneer in pixel art style games is the true ambassador for this edition's theme! So, what better moment to launch the next Armor Games' Armatar Contest than this one? Right! It's time for the:

Yes! You've read correctly! It's time to test your art skills in Pixel form! Even though it may seem easy, creating art in pixel form may proove itself more difficult than you may think... especially with the current modern day art programs at your disposal. So why not go back to the roots of gaming?
As the art may have changed, the rules remained the same. Here they are once more...

ARMATAR CONTEST GUIDELINES :

ne: All entries must be appropriate. They cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Keep it clean!
The entry must be square and at least 512x512 pixels in dimension.
Your entry must scale down well to 100x100. So if it looks good in its larger form, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to the armatar size. Here are a few suggestions about this :
Sometimes keeping it simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So keep in mind what the Armatar size will be and check often how it looks when it is scaled down.
Remember to save a lot while you are making it! Better to delete 20 -in between made- save files later on, than ending up with a finished piece you don't like or an end result that is showing up blurred when scaled down...
If you are able to do vector, by all means! That can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are small in Armatar size, this is probably not a big issue.
All entries must be fitting to the current contest's theme. If a certain entry is debatable to whatever extend, a Mod or Admin will give the decisive and final ruling for submission.
An entry must be completely original. You cannot use entire (or even elements from) pieces of artwork made by someone else, the entire armatar must be 100% created by you! A Moderator can ask you to provide conclusive proof that the entry was created by you entirely and you are obligated to provide this when asked for.

Plagiarism will not only exclude your submission by means of disqualification, it will also exclude you from participation in any future contests AND will have further consequences!

CLOSING DATE OF THIS CONTEST :

This Contest will be held untill 04/22/2017, so there's more than enough time to enter your artwork!

WINNING SUBMISSIONS :

Every participant of an official edition of the Armor Games' Armatar Contest receives a well deserved Merit for submitting one -or more- entries to every separate edition held. This means a maximum of one Merit per participant, per edition.

Alongside this Merit for your participation, we have a special non-game Quest to award for the winning submissions of the Armor Games' Armatar Contest! This special Armatar Creator Quest will be bestowed upon the creators of the winning entries that were chosen for every contest held. The winners will receive this Quest to show our appreciation for their outstanding work. Wear this Quest with pride!
Winners will be chosen after the edition is officially closed;
The winning entries are non-debatable, results are final;
The Armatar Creator Quest can only be awarded once per user. If a particular user wins another edition, they will not receive this Quest again, as Quests can not be achieved a second time;
As a special appreciation for their outstanding work, all the winners and their winning entries of every edition will be placed into the Armatar Creator Quest Winners Hall of Fame!

Allright! Now grab your pencils and paper, and/or your mouse, and start making your wonderful original works of art, PIXEL STYLE! As always... be creative and amaze us! =)

And remember... there is a special guest judge for this Edition! Super Mario!!

@Aleksa_2929

I removed the three blank posts of the that did not work, image URLs typically need to end in an image format like .jpg and usually aren't extremely long. But it looks like you finally got it to post, so now you know what URLs work and what don't.

@Aleksa_2929 I checked and even though it is cute... you did edit an image that was made by someone else. This is strike 2... if you want to submit art for the Armatar Contest you need to create it yourself. Read the rules in the OP (Opening Post of this thread; page 1 or at the top). I will not allow another entry that was not made entirely 100% by you. If you do this, it will be strike 3 and you will be excluded from participating in these contests, understood?

@SomeRandomStickboy Yes, please do! The contest is open for submitting art untill April 22nd.

@browsermmolover2 Nice work! I've edited your second post to contain the image you wanted to show and deleted the last post you made, ok?

@Yellowcat Even though I really like your entry, it does not fit the theme of this Armatar Contest... the theme is 'Pixels', which means this is not suitable for entering I'm afraid... if you make a new one that is pixelated, I will happily add it to the uploaded Armatars to choose from, ok?

You can use various computer programs (Paint, Photoshop) to start your drawing. Even Paint is good, and on second thoughts, is actually quite suited to pixel art.

Several people have come up with ideas already, including:

I drew it in inkscape to get the circles aligned, then used a pixel filter in pixlr editor.

You need a app with layers, for fast editing. Try pixlr out @MrDayCee

You could also see Piskelapp...no download for it. You can make small animations too! It's cool.
I personally use Krita though...

I am trying to use Adobe Photoshop, with mixed results, however it costs quite a lot of money. Paint is a classic one that (I think) you can get for free.
