@D373 Mine didn't trigger either. I have the hardcore achievement from the completion and I was a champion of Tavros so I would never retreat. Still somehow didn't get the achievement to pop.
@Fyrhazrd Ok good to know I'm not alone with this. The ingame hardcore-completion achievement did register for me too. Did you complete the Champions quest (defeat Vorag on normal mode) before beating it on hardcore mode? If not, then there might be a problem with both quests triggering.^^ (that's at least what I'm thinking) What I also found is that there seems to be a "Fair Play" bonus that doubles the score and triggers when you "don't close the game during a battle". I didn't get that even though I didn't close the game during a battle. (I closed it after saving on the map and continued the next day, maybe that's the reason even though it shouldn't be)
I won the game in hardcore mode but I cheated a couple of times closing the window during battles i would have lost. I did NOT retreat, not a single time, but i didn't receive the achievement.
I suppose that you have to get also the "Fair play" bonus in order to get the achievement "No surrender."
@Cofmo I did the same - cheated once by closing the window in a battle against gargoyles in the jungle (from this place I warn against approaching "free" chests on hardcore), but after the last battle the game awarded me with "No surrender". It unlocked without having "Fair play" bonus. Maybe AG changed the requirements to get this quest.
Finally after 93 (!!!) tries i got the hardcore quest.
I tried every possible kind of build, and always used a Holy monk. Failing. Then I decided to change party and finally won with this one:
ARCANE MAGE: 18 toughness, 21 energy. Max Water magic, hearth magic and magic. Get as soon as you can the ability that allows to summon elementals. Hearth one is like a tank, water has ranged attack. There is a little glitch to earn them earlier: in some maps there are water and earth towers in the city. If you have water/hearth ability level 5 and you complete the quests inside the tower you gain an additional point and can summon elementals even at level 5. Equip the mage with light armors and shield and staves.
BLACK MONK: Max out Dark magic and Chaos magic. Get as soon as you can the chaos shield and the vampirism. Do not spend a single point on Holy, because the Nit god would not be happy.I suggest to unkock also vampirism, because you will not be able to restore health. Equip the monk with HEAVY harmor and staves
ROGUE: Max out stealth, dodge and one handed weapon. In the onehandedweapon tree it is important to unlock the ability that improves damage while having a free hand. Use only a dagger without a shield and medium armor.
NIT GOD: nit is one of the strongest gods in the game: at 1st level gives +2 strenght and energy. At 2nd level gives +2 toughness. At 3rd level gives vampirism and dark resistence, but you will not be able to heal. NO PROBLEM: Rogue has huge damage output and heals himself with vampirism. You will also be able to use the global regeneration spell and the regeneration spell of the arcan mage.
GLOBAL REGENERATION SPELL: It is probably the strongest spell. You can use it with Nit God, because it regenerates and doesn't heal.
OTHER SUGGESTS
FORTITUDE!: it is essential to improve your fortitude against certain types of enemy. Higher fortitude is given by Willpower, some items and an ability in the leadership tree. It allows to resist paralysis, mind control and fear. Fear is particularly frustrating cause your heroes will automatically retreat from a battle. Be carefull to Black/fire horses in the forest, Black shamans in the jungle and to almost all the enemies in the dark land
FAIR PLAY: it is not clear if closing the game during a battle you are losing compromises the achievement. In the run described above I finished the game without closing the browser during battles. During a previous run I closed the browser 5/6 times and even without retreating I didn't get the achievement. It seems that some players got the achievement even without fair play bonus.. i do not know how it works.
NO XP BONUS: Some players suggest to get as soon as you can the second ability of the leadership skill tree that gives you more XP after battles. I think this is a mistake. 1. Because the fastest you level up the lesser XP enemies will give you. 2. Leveling up caps at level 12 and you will probably reach level 12 aniway.
So I came back to this to see if it was fixed. Finished the game on hardcore, no retreats and still no final quest activation. I could understand it if you had to finish with fair play in order to get it but it doesn't say so and several people have earned it without having fair play as well.
After a lot of tries (really... a lot!) I can say that all unlocked perfectly fine. Because some users reported it I did my hardcore playthrough being aware of several things:
- One playthrough without breaks
- Unlocked "Champions" on a previous playthrough on normal
- Didn't close the tab to 'cheat'
- Made sure not to fight in arenas so I don't loose and so haven't run from these matches
- Made sure not to battle those f.. black horses because of stupid fear
My build was pure glass canon: 3 archer, all with teleport and bow/attack. At creation I made sure all of them have high Str/Dex. Toughness didn't matter because they will die in nearly 1 hit anyway but theire damage output was fabulous. At start I tried to run to the dark world without encountering the trap and got this ?-god. This was because the dark world contained the best items in shops. The hardest part about this playthrough was the early game (nearly until ~Level 5). After this everything was a walk in the park but I had to be sure not to battle everything, because some enemies simply cannot be beaten with a pure team of glasscanon archers (e.g. plants in jungle, mammuths and everything in the dark world).
I've gone to vordrak at level 9 after I got all heroes and have beaten him perfectly fine.
Hardcore took me a while, but I finaly made it today. Is anyone aswell having trouble with the Armorgames Quest not being recorded ? I´m Pretty sure I´ve finished at least 6 of them, but they´re still gray ...
