I posted a comment under the game "Brain Preservation" where i likened the game's main character to Donald Trump. I used the term "fat orange clown" and my comment was deleted. Why was this?
From an objective perspective, the main character in the game looks like Donald Trump - this may even be a deliberate action by the game developer. Donald Trump is inarguably fat (his diet, by his own admission, consists mainly of McDonalds burgers - see Morgan Spurlock) and he is inarguably orange from his use of tanning beds. Whether or not he is a clown is my own subjective viewpoint and, since he is a parody of himself, his own caricature, I believe the description to be true.
Was my comment removed because the site moderators have a different opinion? If so, that would amount to censoring me for holding a different opinion: do you also ban Muslims for worshipping a different religion? Homosexuals for loving non-straight partners? Democrats for voting for the 'wrong' political party?
I appreciate that rude, abusive, profane comments need to be moderated, but if you're censoring non-abusive, polite comments just because they don't adhere to your own beliefs or opinions, thereby inhibiting free speech, then that is another level of control all together; authoritarian, indeed Orwellian.
It's possible that the comment was automatically moderated--this sometimes happens. But if a moderator did delete the comment, I would support this decision. Game comments are not the place for political discourse. These types of comments can (and often do) lead to harsh discussions, flaming, trolling, and so on. The comment itself sounds like it could be interpreted in a way that invites such engagement, thus itself being an instance of trolling. I'm not suggesting that was your intention, just that it could have easily been read that way.
So, no. Your comment was not deleted because of an opinion different from that of a moderator. You are more than welcome, however, to use the WEPR section of the forums to engage in political discussions and debates. That's the appropriate venue for those types of comments. Maybe I'll see you there!
Maybe you didn't read the rules before you started your ignorant, politically charged attack on the POTUS. You are entitled to your opinions, but you know there are others who disagree with them. This is not the place for you to express divisive and inflammatory statements.
According to the rules stated by Armor Games:
Rule #8. – No hateful posting. Do not post material that is hateful or mean towards race, religion, gender, medical condition, lifestyle, etc. Even if you personally don't think of this as hateful or mean, someone else might. 'Think before you post.'
That rule was broken. Therefore, your post was deleted, and rightfully so.
Rule #13. – No complaining about post deletion. Do not complain about Moderators removing a message that you have posted. We trust our moderators, and if they've removed a message or forum post you made, they had a good reason to do so.
That rule was broken as well. Educate yourself as to the rules of the sites you are a part of. We are all guests here and are subject to the established rules and policies of this site. Your ability to remain here is subject to your adherence to the rules, no matter whether you agree with them, accept them, or choose to ignore them because of a misguided sense of entitlement.
