What do you think? Which is the better? On the TGB forum they
said that TGB is much better then flash because Flash is not made for Games, and it's not a Game Engine!

It's really not as easy as 'which is better?' It's really the way you look at it. I don't really know anything about TGB but from first glance it looks like a reasonably good system. Yes, Flash is not made for games. As a flash game developer I'm not afraid to admit it, but you can still use it to make games - Flash is an incredibly powerful program that can do many different things. To me what is more important is that you can't use TGB or any other software to make the games you put on Armorgames, Kongregate, Newgrounds, etc. Only Flash can do that.

Only Flash can do that.

Flash and Canvas, mind you. HTML5 basically revamped the system to allow internal protocol support rather than external flash files.

As for which of these is better, the comparison, as LonLonRanch stated, is incomprehensible since these have no points of comparison with each other. It's basically like comparing PHP to LISP.

Again, that depends on the type of game you want to make. If I remember correctly, Torque is a 3D engine, while flash is 2D. True, you can have 3D functionality in flash, but that's not what it was originally meant to do - so a genuine 3D engine would be better in that case

I agree with this, depends what our really trying to make. All in all though, for making similair types of games to the ones here on armor games, use Flash over anything else.

Flash is the hottest game creation software right now, there's a huge amount of demand for its games

I understand what the guys from Torque are saying, but they are thinking "red ocean", they want to make beautiful impressive epic games, when the public is shouting for casual distraction

Yes, Torque can make epic experiences better than Flash, but you don't see an "Armor Games", a "Newgrounds", a "Kongregate" based on it

And it's not just about being online, it's about being mainstream

Flash is more popular and more people have it on their computer. Also 2d games would work better on an average computer than would 3d games. Also Flash is a very powerful program.

A high-class AS3 Flash game could actually be harder for your computer than an average 3D game... On my PC, it's occasionally pretty hard to run some Flash games, yet a lot of 3D games are still easy to run. So it's -again- all down to the game you want to make.

Generally though, cap'n Sheridan is right. Flash is great for casual games, and torque is great for bigger, epic games. I actually don't know how easy programming is in torque, so I can't compare those two.

" Flash is not made for Games, and it's not a Game Engine "
The earlier versions of flash yes but the new versions (CS)have great support for it.

Though it still isn't made for games only.
