Not neccesarily... mine is on the same level as backspace, for instance, but on the other side of the gap - near buttons such as indeed scroll lock, insert, home etc.
And on a laptop keyboard, it could be that pressing the function (fn) button.
I have a laptop and pressing the function button did not seem to do anything. Also, would HP Photosmart Essential 2.5 be somewhere where I could open up the screen shot or would I need something else?
You can open the screen shot in paint, or picture viewer. It does not have to be anything fancy! If it helps my laptop's print screen button says "Prt Sc" and shares same button as "Scr Lk" (or scroll lock).
Oh thank you. Now I see it, mine has Prt Sc under the Insert button. But will that program work because it came with my printer so I already have it on here and I do not have paint or picture viewer.
Your computer must have come with a picture viewing program. Otherwise there is no way to look at any pictures that you put on. Mine happens to be called Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. I am also surprised you do not have paint (or some sort of doodling/painting program). It might be hidden in an accessories folder that you may not have noticed.
