In computer lingo the 1st digit denotes either positive or negative so you are really adding -1 and 2 to get 1.

Or you add 11 and 2 to get 1 answer.

Oh. Well, it didn't say add them together, right?
So:
(11+(-10))+(2+(-2))=

you're counting on your fingers, but you're only using for fingers, so it goes like this

IIII (four fingers)
IIII (new hand)
III (total = 11) then you add two to make it go
IIII (four fingers) and the second of the two makes it
I (one finger)

Either that, or you're a complete dunce and don't know how to count.

11 + 2 = 1 in mod 12 arithmetic.

If you are meaning base 12 then you are incorrect. That would equal 11.

Alright. If you arrange it in Roman Numerals with tooth picks, since you're 'adding' them together, you use a plus stick for a one in the three, and rearrange the X to a V, then move the one toothpick beside the l over, you get 4 - 3 = 1. HA!

Well I mean that you are wrong.

11 is just two ones. 1 + 1 + 2 = 4. Minus 2 from each side: 1 + 1 =2.

Minus one from each side: 1=1.
