I know it's every flash programmer's dream to create games for consoles and a bigger audience. How cool would it be to take a great flash game, port it to the NDS or PSP where there's a bigger gaming audience, and make money from it? In the vast 5 minutes of research I've done I noticed that programming for consoles is way more complicated than I thought. Considering that flash is merely hobby of mine, and I'm not even through high school yet, I don't feel like learning an entirely new language about 10 times more complicated than actioscript. Is there any easy way to port flash games over to a console? Is there a variation of C or whatever the professionals use that's as easy to understand as actionscript? You have no idea how sheltered I feel right now regarding programming...

You can port any flash game to a console provided you know the workings and coding used for the flash game and console you are programming for. You also need to know how to make your own games for the console you want to port it to.

I don't think there is any easy way to port flash games to consoles. Flash programming is good for learning the basics of programming styles and used for the WWW. Flash is very in depth though, you can do anything you want with flash provided your skills are up to par.

Well, I have made Flash games for the Nintendo Wii before. But it's really hard to make a Flash game for a game system that only has 2 buttons that you can use for controls.

2 buttons? Up, Down, Left, and Right count also. That makes 6, unless you meant 2 action buttons besides the 4 movement buttons.

For the wii, he means through the internet channel, so just pointing and clicking, etc.

Also, I code for the Nintendo DS, and it is WAY more difficult than Flash is. I tried to make the same game for both, and I made it in Flash easily, but failed in PALib (the DS library).

I don't really consider that a Wii flash game then. Just a computer flash game that plays on the Wii browser.

Yeah, programming for consoles is not easy for amateurs, I don't know one single person who can make a game for a current console. I know that making NES and SNES games is much easier. Check this site out http://www.retrousb.com/.

no. Making a well made game takes a lot of people, hard work and lots of time
