Does anybody know if it's possible to create a game on freeware, convert it to .swf, and then post it on AG?

Use something like FlashDevelop, and use it and the flex sdk to compile to swf... you can't convert anything to swf and play it, as far as I know.

Tough thing is, this is all code - no visuals.

Can games created in that manner be posted on AG?

Yes, because Flex compiles a proper swf, which is the format AG requires

Sometimes you can, It depends on what the file is. If it is a .exe file, it can't be converted. Plus, if you want to use a freeware game maker, most likely the game will NOT turn out good. I recommend you just use the free trial of Adobe Flash.

Is it still possible to run the converted swf file?

Another question... (Sorry for double post)

Is FlashDevelop a code editor? If so, does it use ActionScript as its language?

BTW, you can get flash a lot cheaper if you get the student version. It's only $250 last I checked. All the features are still there. The only problem is that you can't legally use it to make money or something like that; I'm not 100% sure what the legal reasoning is

However, if your game gets sponsered, the money you get will easily cover the difference of the student and commercial versions

Last time I checked, the student version was available for college students, which unfortunately means I'll have to wait a few more years to get the discount.

Nope. I got the student version while I was in 8th grade. As proof of identity, I legit sent a picture of myself at the time. It worked; you don't heve to be a college student

Okay, so I've downloaded FlashDevelop, the Flex sdk, and the Java pre-requisite, but now I have no idea how to run or compile codes in FlashDevelop.

Can anyone help me?

Never mind. I've got most of my questions answered, so you can lock this thread now.
