This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.

Here's the first line:

A mountain pokes out awkward in the mist

Every memory holds a secret:
The dream we think, we dare not seek it.
The thoughts that stir the hearts of man
Can never flow as well as planned.
The sins we hold within our minds--
Intoxication of all kinds--
Will always come to crook our way
Until that blessed light of day.

Sorry about that, new line:

I looked into the wishing well

nice poem

I looked into the wishing well
And I see the boy who fell
Jealousy and hatred
Stained his shirt red

Proud of what they had done
They thought they didn't need to run
Killed a sheep and cried wolf.

Do you get what it is about?

next line:
Burned in your lies

Burned in you lies
you told so so many
each one is a burden
a burn so great
its not me or you is fate

Green as the spring's new grass
Are new recruits who will not last
The battle 'fore the setting sun
Takes with him the dead and gone.

A gritty sand beneath my feet
A feel the breeze, regret, repeat
The end of summer
Is kind of a bummer
But final days are bittersweet

Going for the surprise limerick here. The "kind of a bummer" should lighten the tone and put the second line in perspective.

Oops, typo. Should read:

A gritty sand beneath my feet
Feel the breeze, regret, repeat
The end of summer
Is kind of a bummer
But final days are bittersweet

Under a salt moon

tnymeh: This isn't the poetry chain...you create a whole new poem in FLP.

Entreating crickets harmonized and crooned
A southern song, to soothe men's minds
In promises of homecomings soon
Down to that beaten path that winds.

What happens to a dream that's died?
That the dream shall fade away,
while everybody else cried,
I just watched with dismay.

In the evening sky
Lies the unknown
A mystery to me
I traded sunset baseball
A yellow ball bouncing
in the could de sac
For closing duties
A vacuum and a mop

The evening sky
Must be meant for others
For the young, old, and homeless
I wonder if they still play
Does the yellow ball still bounce
Or was it thown away with my memories

Forever Falling
Overcome by chaos
Realizing a rocky landing

Even dieing

Venues of greatness; unreached
Ever so many things to do
Realizing the end has come

a solemn wish
is all i have
i've lost my will
As I have my life

I wish it could
Have been different
I wish we loved
Like Bonnie and Clyde

We only lasted
Like the sun
each day
We rose and we fell

And that is our world

remind me of memory

Remind me of memory,
A happier time.
Of peace and friendship,
And our love combined.

When our hearts were free,
Minds were clear.
Thats my memory,
My sweet, sweet dear.
