This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.

Here's the first line:

A mountain pokes out awkward in the mist

I'll just continue it with my own, if that's ok.

White trees
stretch out their withered hands
reaching for the decayed fruits of the other
... on the other side.

But the man walked on

As a shadow rustled upon the bushes

The man reached into his holster

with beads of cold sweat racing down his skin

only to find out he's empty

The rustling becomes louder...

The rustling becomes louder
voices break the midst
Spirits rise,
Ghosts weep,
then all is silent again

I am not good at this but lets try
But the man walked on
Because for the dead, its useless to mourn
The unforgettable
Is this pain
He vowed his death,
Will not go in vane
He vowed revenge
He vowed in rage
To be the slayer
Or to be the slain.
Next
To be the slain

To be the slain, to be the maimed,
To be midst those strewn on the plains,
To be those faces left forgotten,
Left in places, corpses rotten,
Is not the dream of glory told,
By wizened soldiers, stories old.
The glory of the battle gone,
And death's last rattling song,
Ringing out from voices young,
Their love ballads yet unsung.

I just want t' understand
Why this o' all days in the land
Be a day of scurvy and
Speakin' of piratical brand
Why not on a day before
Why be it this day? What for?
Be this a tradition or
An old salt's joke? Neither nor?
I have not an answer yet.
Thar be no answer I would bet.
This day just be a day t' whet
Slurrin' o' the alphabet.

Pirates be better than ninjas
What blasphemy!?
Masters of shadow,
Wielders of death,
Inferior?

Drunken sea rats,
Wouldn't be better,
Ever.
Why matey,
You've had a bit too much grog.

Flitting through the sky
like an old day butterfly
sitting on a fence
lies a frog.
silently waiting to strike

Have you heard of the legend of the pie?
Have you heard of that fat guy?
Who got sick by eating pie
He vowed that till the day he dies
He will not eat no more pies
Even if choice is to eat pie or to die

Reign of death.
Prey, why don't you lighten my load?
Totalitarian, and as your subject
You are responsible
For my very well being.

Or rather, a lack of.

And it's drawing closer.

Brains...
Mixed in with Scrambled eggs...
Are quite delicious.

But seriously, pig brains and eggs make for a really good breakfast. Its a southern thing. So to move along:

Why do you waste my time?
Why do you steal my rhymes?
It's ridiculous, it is
Sometimes I want to stop this

Or maybe I don't care.
I should just go hug my bear.

Carry on, obsequies one
