I'm asking this and not just using a search engine because I already have a layer of expertise in programming. I know C#, JavaScript, Html and a little of c++. I am developing games for xbox 360. So I know alot about OOP and programming concepts however I want to learn flash to make a good website for my indie game development company and as a pastime make flash games. I do not want a book that talks about all the basics of OOP and Programming concepts. Just one that talks about ActionScript 3.0. I have messed around with it and find it very similar to both Java and C# but I want to know all the specifics.
One of my team uses Maya to do Art. I am doing the programming. What is your question? I will pass it on to him or give him your contact details if you want.
If you don't want to invest 700~ dollars, and if you prefer coding rather than visual-oriented interface, then I recommend FlashDevelop. It's an open source code editor than strictly uses code. Unfortunately, however, it's much more difficult creating animations with FD.
I already have flash cs4 so im good to go in that sense. I now have the book Secretmapper had recommended. Its an intresting read. 900+ pages though. So bedroom studying it is.
well, there are manz others. personally I think that essentaial AS 3.0 is not a good start. It talks about OOP a lot.
My first one was "Flash Game University", the "Learning ActionScript 3.0" and then after some time "Essential ActionScript 3.0". Its not an easy book to read. Now I am learning multiplazer using electroserver
Book is ActionScript for multiplayer games and virtual worlds.
I need learn Java though, probablz my next book will be on that.
I learnt Java from a tutor and modding runescape private servers. Making bots for runescape. Then when I quit runescape I kept on playing around with the language.
