I have a choice between learning C++ and Java, assuming I could only learn one which should I go with?

I'm currently learning basic programming, i.e. QBasic & Visual Basic

Well, java is very close to Flash , so you can make flash games easily and put them up on AG . And Java is WAAY easier than C++ . But with C++ you can make any program and it has NO limits. You can make games for any platform as well.

You should probably decide about this on your own, not consult some flash game website and listen to a single 14 year old. The demography and professionalism levels here aren't exactly the most impressive.

Talk with your computer science teacher or counselor, people who can give you sound advice.

Only College and University Advisors even know what they are talking about.

True but a few people here know what they are talking about.

C++ is extremely hard compared to Java. But you could do more with it. If you want to look into flash in the future then you should go with Java but if your looking at a more practical language with more options go with C++.

Depends. Some high school teachers know almost as much as college professors. I had a bio teacher who treated us like we were in college >_>

As for the OP, if you learn C++, then transitioning into any other programming paradigm will be a breeze.

C++. It looks like a great programming language. I wish I started learning about programming by learning C++, but now I already know a few easy programming languages, and I don't want to try to learn a new one, since I am too lazy, and stuff.

And yeah, if you learn C++, learning any other programming languages will be easier.
