After his uncle died, Lowell was raised with a good education and sent to Cambridge, where he earned a degree in foreign languages(German). He was exempt from the draft for academic reasons(and of course how influential his family was), but due to his uncle and the guns he'd gotten good at, Lowell requested to join. He was admitted, and then admitted into OCS. He was sent into combat with the rank of first lieutenant.
