I understand this is where to post if I'm looking for someone to team up with. I'm on the lookout for an experienced programmer in AS2 or AS3 (whatever you prefer) for a side-scrolling beat-em-up, with a touch of holiday spirit(s).
Heed my warning: This is a "mature" game, containing a large amount of blood and alcoholism, so if you find that too low-brow or offensive you should close this thread now. Still interested? Read on!
The concept in short is keeping yourself drunk, beating up and stealing alcohol from the attending x-mas party guests. You'll become gradually more sober if you're not drinking, and if you go all out you'll be ashamed of yourself and lose the game. If you get TOO drunk, you'll throw up and lose a huge amount of drunkeness. The guests won't fight back, but if there's time we might add some cops etc to make it more interesting.
I have a more detailed scheme written out, but I won't post that here yet. I'm hoping you're the creative kind so we can brainstorm stuff back and forth, and be stronger men because of it.
I've already animated enough graphics to create a working beta, and you can check out this terrible demo I mashed up to get an impression of the game. (Again, mature content)
Here's what you should be able to do: -A solid sidescroller engine (no gliding) -Fighting mechanics -Variables and random events -Particles -Have "the knack" for programming, and not just copy & paste everything from online tutorials into a huge mess -Have enough spare time -Be in the GMT London timezone, but it's not required -Be fun and creative
That's it, I think. If you're interested drop me a line and some of your previous stuff. One last note is that this project is done for the joy of it and there will be no profit involved for neither of us.
Your art looks very interesting and original but I doubt you will find anyone here on AG. Try kongregate collabs, that forum seems to be a popular place for people to connect and make games.
From what you've already posted i don't think you really need a programer follow a few basic tutorial and i rekon you could complete this yourself remember there are always forums where you can ask for help.
