"I warn you gentlemen, on this beautiful planet three kinds of metal rule supreme. There is silver, a beautiful and valuable metal found in abundance near these oceans. There is gold, just as beautiful as well as more valuable. The hills are practically made of this stuff. Finally there is lead. Found in abundance in anyone that gets in your way.

You pathetic slaves are hear to collect the metals for your masters. The one who brings back the most valuable load gets off the planet and gets to keep twenty percent of his or her earnings, freedom, and a small homestead on the moon of Earth itself. Those of you who come in second and less will get left here, to die a slow and painful death.

Here is your equipment. A Hephaestus brand mining pick with smelting head. This can be used to dig, if you can use any muscle, and to smelt the ore you manage to bring up into pretty little bricks. A brick of gold is worth a hundred credits, a brick of silver fifty. This is the only one you get. Don't break it.

The second piece of equipment you will receive is a George Smith handgun with five shots. None of you have touched a gun in your life, so you may be surprised that we are arming you. You should know that this gun does not have the ability to fire past our shields or armor. You may use this to defend yourself from some of the....more unruly inhabitants. Yes, that is right, the planet is inhabited. Why do you think we didn't just go into it our self?

You have one month. The drop ship does not come back until then. Have a medical emergency? To bad. We are not changing the deadline for anything. So good luck, pitiful slaves, I am leaving this dirty planet"

The above was the speech your company manager gave to you before he set you off on the mission described... As he said, good luck.

You stretch out your arms. The ship you rode in on was extremely cramped and it was a year of waiting. But the sun was shining, the wind breeze was peasant, and this is the most free you have ever been! Looking behind you you can see a form of HQ of your..."employers" with a few guards with rifles strapped across there backs, but besides them you were unwatched. Looking out into the terrain, you can see it is almost exactly how he described it. Strieght ahead of you there are rolling hills, with sand on both your left and right, ocean surrounding the sand. The sky is clear and the sun is shining, in an intense, pleasant way.

And on top of that, you finally have a gun in your hands! It may not be a sniper rifle, but a gun is a free man's tool. They don't let slaves have guns.

So what will you do?

You start to explore the island. Using your head a little, you decide to head to the hills in order to get a better look at the island. You start walking between the hills, once you approach them you can see that the closest ones are about ten feet tall, they seem to become larger the further you go in. After about a mile and twenty minutes of fast paced walking, you reach a suitable hill of about fifty feet high and begin to climb. It isn't a long walk, but as exhausting as hell. You finally reach the top and sit down, taking in your surroundings. Looking back, you can see the hills you past as well as the HQ. It looks, if anything, larger from here. It seems to go underwater. Looking to your sides you can see a few hills with uninteresting oceans and beaches. Further examination on your right and you can see what seems to be a small village, a few scattered houses with smoke rising from above it, right on the beach. Looking ahead you can see more hills, growing to mountainous size. In the far distance you can see two actual mountains, blocking your view further. But from what you can see you could assume this is a round island.

Bio: He was born poor to an alien Slave family, extremely similar to Humans but slightly less intelligent (say the intelligence of a human Young adult is the maximum). Working hard in the mines on a Colony, he slowly worked his way up the job ladder, starting at the age of 5 as a sorter and by 15 becoming a Miner just like his Pa and older Brother, both unnamed due to unity concerns by the Seers. Apparently the Seers didn't like him too much, even though being young he was one of the most productive, and 1 night after single-handedly digging through 50 feet of rock on his own (very hard-working, dumb but driven), He was ripped from his family by the Company and sent to this strange planet...

You slip your coat into the pocket of your raged coat. You take a few steps over to the water and make a hole in the sand, trapping some water in it. It is crystal clear, as you hoped. Clear enough for you to see your reflection. Perfectly hidden, as you had hoped. And clear water means that it is probably fresh water, perfect for drinking, and mining. At least that is what one of the mouthy slaves said, one of the few who have lived in the mines. According to him the Hephaestus had a habit of over heating, making it useless. I guess that is what happens when you make a combination smelter-pick axe... The water could also be used to help identify minerals if there is to much dirt. So you take out an old canteen and fill it with water.

Now you are ready to mine. Now the question is, gold or silver?

You start the walk to the village, easy going down the hill! About an hour later you arrive to the end of the hills and get a second look at the village. What you thought were buildings were some strange tent like things, they seem to be made out of some kind of fish, with some bones sticking out the top.

You are about to take a step out and examine the village, but you step back when you see one of the residence. It seems to be a humanoid, with a dorsal fin coming out of the back of it's head. It seems to sense you some how and turns around. You can see its face, a long birdlike face with spiked teeth coming out of it. It stands up and starts walking in your direction, you can see that it is about half the length of a human, or maybe the full length of a human child. It seems to be holding something. It seems to be a fish? Whatever it is, it picks it up and points it in your direction.

You start digging in the sand. After about five feet, you hit ground water. A small pool, probably coming in from the ocean. You are about to give up, but the the water feels good on your feet. After kicking around for a second your legs feel something other than sand. You pick it up and examine it. A nugget of silver! Well it is a start. You put it in your pocket, you would need about five of them in order to make one bar of silver.

widen the pit so it doesn't cave in on me (and reduce the angle), then search in the water for more nuggets.
