it seems that interest in doing a project like this is there, but it will take more time to get others involved and truly get this moving, so i suggest we move on into areas that are more interesting and participatory.
so far members that have voiced interest are as follows:
after typing that out, it seems we have a pretty good start!
so onward! let's talk game type: gaboloth has already listed a few examples in the "initialize" thread and tends toward a shooter genre.
let's do something similar here - if you a have favorite game type or style let's talk about them here - when we've discussed this for a while we'll tally the types and then the narrow focus.
let's also refrain from listing too many games them selves - there are hundred or even thousands of 'shooters' out there so let's not try to list them all - but a single 'favorite would be fine - let's save the 'comparison' lists for later after having narrow down the type to focus on.
this is a RPG that may be approved both from sonny lovers and sonny haters (lol). It's action, but it's strategic too because there's a bunch of different upgrades and you need to balance them, and it takes a really long time to find the best upgrading combination. It's 3d, but that's not a great problem, since I think it would work fine both in top-down or sidescroller form.
Ok my idea is an RPG world, where you are captured to, sorry for any offense, United Soviet Socialists Republic. You need to try to get your way back to the U.S. Also, this will be sort of taking place in the U.S.S.R
i have a basic concept for the interface of the game mentioned above and i hope to be able to change it to a graphic and upload it so everyone is able to see it.
It seems to be a split between an action RPG and just regular RPG. I guess when Beech comes back he will close this thread and make another to flesh out the RPG idea. So you guys can start thinking of details like artistic theme, game mechanics, storyline and world and I guess will we decide on the best or collaborate on it.
I vote for [b]Shooter/action/b] like in "Echoes-Operation Stranglehold" because it utilizes the 2d base for a light strategic shooter with a great storyline.
