General Motors declares bankruptcy for the second time. * 2015: The effects of peak oil are felt as gas prices reach up to 20 dollars a gallon due to a war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Russia cuts off all oil trade with Europe. Survivalist literature become bestsellers in America. China's influences diminish.
* 2015: Slavery is reinstated in the United States. Peace is achieved. Everyone is happy. America is once again the leader of the free world. * 2016: America withdraws its military from Japan and other countries overseas, focusing on its instability back home. Texas splits from the United States, border bloodshed takes place as refugees from other states attempt to enter Texas. * 2017: Martial law is declared in the United States as its infrastructure crumbles due to financial deficiencies. * 2018: After the destruction of one its nuclear facilities by Korean special forces, Japan surrenders to the Greater Korean Republic and is capitalized into a vassal state. * 2019: The UN goes out of commission. * 2020: Canada closes its borders to Americans. The US military takes over the functions of many emergency services, as well as the distribution of basic goods. This causes many Americans to abandon the suburbs in exchange of the military-managed urban centers. * 2021: Korean forces succeed in annexing many countries in Southeast Asia. A new pandemic known as the Knoxville Cough begins to spread in the United States. * 2022: To prevent the contagion of the Knoxville Cough, Mexico closes its borders to Americans. Hyperinflation pushes the US dollar to the edge of collapse. * 2023: The Knoxville Cough ravages the American public. The Korean People's Army reaches 20 million total personnel. * 2024: Using the captured M-V rockets at the Uchinoura Space Center, Kim Jong-un announces a new space satellite program, under the pretense of replacing the decaying GPS system, which America could no longer afford to maintain. * 2025: A thermonuclear device is detonated by one of the Korean satellites 300 miles above Kansas, blanketing America with an EMP that wipes out its power grid and most of the electronics above ground. The US infrastructure is virtually in ruins. This is followed by the Korean seizure of Hawaii and landings in San Francisco. Korean paratroopers are dropped into central United States. The economic downfall in Europe prevents its nations from intervening. * 2026: The United States is split into two as the KPA irradiate the entire Mississippi River, as a fortification for their control of the western side. * 2027: The United States Armed Forces are completely scattered.

Rules: *You must or should drink water every 2-3 days, food every week. Daily is ideal, and your ability to do certain tasks will decrease depending on the last time you ate. *Disease and Wounds are not things to be taken lightly. Without an effective healthcare system, lack of medical personnel (In most cases), and a collapsed economy, even in stable areas it will be hard or expensive to find medication, a doctor or medical supplies, if at all. If untreated you can and will die, though see Perks for ways to prevent this. *Biographies are preferred, though anything like 'i have a whole plan complete with 1 year's supplies, an armored hummer, and a minigun all in my garage' I will simply ignore the whole post. Keep it realistic to whoever you are creating (So a survivor/civilian will not start out with a Military-issue assault rifle, for example, but a shotgun or pistol ((Below .50 cal) would be reasonable). Perks: pick 3 from Soldier category, 1 from General. Alternative 2 from Soldier, 2 from General. Customs are allowed.
Civilian: Unlimited amount of these Starting Equipment: Go wild, just BE REALISTIC. Perks: 5 from General. Alternative: 2 from General, 1 from soldier.
Those are the two basic classes, though here are some suggestions (Hint hint): Combat Medic Hunter Gangster Doctor Construction Worker USAF Pilot Pilot Teacher Beggar etc.
General Perks: Hacker: Can hack computer terminals. Criminal at heart: Can hotwire vehicles, break into locked buildings/vehicles, and use melee weapons much easier. Any other criminal-related tasks also are easier. Scavenger: Can find supplies much more easily. Brute: Very strong and intimidating. Medical expertise: Can heal wounds (stop bleeding, prevent infection, etc.) and treat them with the proper supplies. Redneck: Get an All-terrain Pickup truck [2005-2020, state the year] complete with a Huntin' Roffle, Chained tires [can be removed] and A 24 PACK OF BEER! Busy Bee: Know where ALL the stores and important locations are at by heart, at least in your area.... Pistol Proficiency: Can use pistols with much more accuracy. You hear a quiet pop, then suddenly feel a mind-numbing pain in your stomach area. It is so great, your legs give out on you and Markus just barely grabs your shirt in a reaching dive as you collapse forward and almost to a 3-story freefall. The megaphone falls from your hand and gets caught in a drainage gutter on the ledge beneath you. Your shirt slips through Markus' grasp, and after falling 1 1/2 story, you grasp a balcony railing, it nearly giving out from the sudden weight on it. Reaching your other hand up, something blurring hits the railing next to you, ricocheting around before stopping on the patio in front of you, and you see it is a rubber bullet. Climbing up as the railing leans tediously far out over the ledge, you jump onto the patio and stare into an abandoned apartment.A 3rd ricocheting RB shatters the glass patio door in front of you.
