After WW3 in 2257 France and The UK fought United Korea some of the broken up Chinese states with the US caught in the middle. After a series of inept presidencies and corrupt congressmen, a weak dollar, over stretched military, and widespread diseases it went into chaos. Riots across US countries and states breaking from the union they became just another territory to fight over. But Korean spies infiltrated into French and UK nuclear weapon deposits and set them off leading to worldwide devastating effects. Enough bunkers were made for the people, but most were either too weak for the radiation that were emitted or just weren't stocked with enough supplies. the ones that did make it either held important value people or were very large with the working class.
