This is basically the same game as the one that has been running for quite a while, but it will be all official material, no house rules or non-rulebook sources of any kind, and I may enforce mandatory characters if things get too far out of hand (TRF has said that things were getting carried away in the other game). I also want chracter and OOC dialouge to be better managed, in other words don't fill this game up with a bunch of meaningless chatter (If all you want to do is talk about something, do it in the other game). New players are always welcome, and in fact encouraged, even if you don't own any of the books or know any of the rules. If any new players want to join, see the other game for rules, give me a race and class, and I will take care of the rest. As soon as at least 4 characters are made, this game will begin. The module I am using is a DCC, known as "The Black Pearl" (and I don't mean the ship from Pirates of the Caribbean)
That will do it. PROBLEM SOLVED! So, is everyone on board and ready to "set sail" for adventure? Remember, tommorow night the blue moon rises, and the tower will rise out of the depths for one night. You have only a few hours to get some sleep before you need to row for your lives to get there in time. It is currently around 1:30 PM, do you know when the sun officially sets and the moon comes out at any given point in the world?(assume that the world is similar in size to earth and I just want to make sure you understand what I mean by you have a limited amount of time)
so... are we ready to get a move on? where is everyone? You need to tell me what you are doing. You bought the rowboats and now you need to head for the location of the tower, how are you going about this? Who's in which boat and is there anything else you would like to do before we move on?
Where is everyone? I can see 3 people on, so where is the rest of the group? Ok, let's just go and tough beans if someone wanted to do something first.
You "set sail" for the tower of the black pearl. (sound of dice rolling) The trip is rather uneventful and you soon arrive at the location indicated on your map. You wait a couple hours, and begin to grow impatient. The idea that a pearl the size of your head mkaes the imaginiation run wild, as there would be a great many things you could buy with it, and just thinking about it makes you quiver with excitement. Darkness falls and you begin to doubt whether this tower is really real or if this was all just a hoax. As you double-check your map to make sure you are in the proper location The Ninja hears a rumbling sound coming from down below. He peers overboard and there appears to be something bubbling to the surface, not but 30 ft from where you're all sitting:
An unbelieveable sight, you see the tower rises from the sea like something out of a fairy tale. And yet, it must be real, for waves lap at it just as they lap againt the planks of your boat. You are in awe of the events you have just personally witnessed, a tower, at least 200 ft tall, has risen from out of the depths by seemingly impossible means.
(sound of dice rolling) The Wizard has never seen or even heard of magic of this magnitude being even possible before, the ability to sumberge an entire tower below the sea, and then to have it rise from below in the same manner. It is believed to be impossible, maybe even unfeesable to do such a thing. There is clearly some high level magic at work here as he begins to analyze the tower more closely. What he sees is none too inspiring though...:
Snarling gargoyles crown the four corners of the tower, peering from coral-encrusted battlements. More worrisome than the eldritch tower or the snarling gargoyles is the worn longboat moored on the far side of the tower. Squinting through the darkness, the deck of the ship appears to be empty.
YOu can see no physical entrance into this tower from sea level, however you do see a rope leading up from the longboat to the very top of the tower, and it doesn't look like it has been there long. Your hearts begin to beat quickly as you wonder what sort of crew this ship must've possessed, as the ship looks like it should be at the bottom of the sea, judging by the large gsping holes in the side of the ship. You fear the worst, as you continue to look on at the dark tower that is now jutting from the murky depths. (sorry about the very long description, this module was designed in a old school style, and attention to detail was a must)
