Heiskanen doesn't seem to mind the cold very much, but he's just in a ****ing terrible mood because he hates the Russians...he is standing at attention waiting. Richthofen doesn't seem to mind either, he's praying. Kemmerich is doing push-ups in the snow and freezing his *** off, but he would die of hypothermia before he would complain about it. Eisenthal is huddled up miserably, drinking and thinking about his home before he was drafted. Beckenbauer, Straussenberg, and Wagner are walking the perimeter in an attempt to stay warm. Bachmeier and Stutzler are trying to get to sleep. Reinhardt is fussing with his sniper rifle, assembling, disassembling, and cleaning it repeatedly. Metzinger has lit a cigarette and is trying to keep warm around that tiny flicker of heat.

Oh. All right. Richthofen has everyone start digging trenches and making defensive positions. The snipers are set up at the place of highest elevation, sentries are posted on the outskirts to patrol the perimeter, and mines are laid around said perimeter.
