This is a forum I write to define what a Brony or Pegasister is, and the stages of Brony development. Just to let the reader know, I am a Brony.

First, I shall define what a Brony is. A Brony is a male or female (sometimes referred to as Pegasister) teenager who is a fan of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. Now, before you hit that Back button, let me ask you to just give this a chance. Continuing now, most of us Bronies are just regular people who happen to like a certain television show. The name Brony derives from the words "Bro" and "Pony", while Pegasister comes from "Pegasus" and "Sister".

Now I shall list the stages of Brony Development. Note: Some stages are possible to be skipped, while some people stay at one stage for a very long period of time. In other words, certain stages can last from days to months, and even years.

Stage 1, Interest: This stage may be caused by friends telling you of the series, or you find it on the internet/television. You may watch the first few episodes at this point.

Stage 2, Anger/Denial: This stage is probably the most skipped, or the most stayed at. You notice you enjoy the show, and it makes you sick. You probably ask yourself, "Why am I watching this? This is a show for little girls, not me!", but you know deep down you enjoy it. You cant stop yourself from watching the next episode.

Stage 3, Acceptance: In this stage, you have probably visited a pro-Brony site (I will list links at the bottom of the post) or picked your favorite pony featured in the episodes. You know you enjoy the show, and you embrace it. It's who you are. Any haters will just have to deal with it. Although you accept it, you still keep your Brony title secret.

Stage 4, Brony Recruitment: This stage is totally optional, but it is always appreciated. You tell your group of friends that you are a Brony, and you suggest the show to them. Some maybe against the Bronies, while others may join with you.

These are some sites that are Brony made, Brony operated, and centered around the show.

There are other websites, but these are by far the most popular. More information on this topic can be found on Youtube or Wikipedia. I suggest watching the episodes in order directly from Youtube, full episodes can be found there.

Wouldn't this be more of a popular media topic?

I just read an article that included bronies. Before that, I'd never heard of them.

Anyway, this this thread should probably be in Popular Media rather than this forum.

Fourteen. And maybe, yeah, about the popular media. Although it is kind of an event.

No, popular media is music and movies and stuff. This is a fan group.

I'm not going to lie and say that I think there isn't something weird about a teenage guy liking a show about pink animated ponies, but I won't make fun of anyone for it. Just don't be surprised when others do...

What about it do you like so much?

Popular Media deals with any "Popular Media". This fan group originates from My Little Pony: Friendship is Metal, which is popular media created by professionals under an organization, therefore belonging in the Popular Media forum.

Anyway, I like the pure innocence of the show, and its pretty funny. I laugh more at it than I laugh at King of The Hill or some bad comedy like that. I also like the really good storyline, its a lot better than the crap on television nowadays.

Another thing I find funny is that the fact that the creators of the show know about the bronies. They've even embraced them by making a music video with the actual cast. The creator of the show, Lauren Faust, known for shows like The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, says she is proud of her Brony fanbase.

Note: nopony uses the term pegasister. As far as I know, it's pretty much universally loathed and nopony knows why the hell the journalistic pieces about the fandom keep referring to it.

ANYWAY. I'm a pretty hardcore brony. I'm a half-op on EqD's IRC channel for fanfic writers and I help people edit fanfiction a lot (though I don't want to write any, don't worry :P). I frequent Lulz and Mic's livestreams as well as Cyril's silly show, listen to lots of fan music, stuff like that. Weeeeee
