Humanity has always overturned the bad events that have happened to them in the past. Natural disasters, diseases, hunger, prosperity, and many more problems that have risen in the past. Humans succeed at anything they try for, and when they do, its such a huge morale boost to the world when something is done right, like when the first man set foot on the moon. Yes, it was in America and the American president made this his dream, but it was a global success.
Humanity usually finds a way to surpass something that could possibly destroy the world and all the effort put into it to make it the way it is today.
Now, a disease spreads once more, worse than any other plague humans have ever faced. It doesn't just kill. No. It goes beyond destroying the memories and souls of the humans, and brings them back to such a demonic state. They turn into mindless zombies, who stagger and lurch in the streets and feed off of the living.
Doctors have tried to find cures, but most think it is a waste of time and believe everyone should just accept what is happening and give up and get eaten. Not you. Not your organization. Or what it used to be.
You were a lab assistant for a company that was called NecroBorgia Labs. Its a corny name, and you never really thought you belonged there, but you ended up there anyways. They had maybe 100,000 workers there, and they all were always trying to create a vaccine. You thought they were stupid for creating it, and asked them why they made it, but they always told you that you and the rest of humanity needed it one day. You thought it was a ridiculous thought, but you never questioned any more after they told you that. Its not like you cared, you were getting payed $700 an hour just for standing around and making sure people didn't blow up in your face after they drink or inject a vaccine. But now you know exactly why they told you about the vaccine and why it would save humanity.
Here you are, standing in the middle of an empty apartment. You have no items, no friends you know who are alive, and no idea what to do next... or do you?

You find a gun store, but there are 7 zombies walking outside, and it looks like 20 more inside the store. "Why are they all attracted to this place?" Says Sergie.

Let's see. Alexander isn't good with accuracy, so he should probably stick to melee. I suggest we all go melee in a tight group, fighting the least amount of zombies at a time possible? (I'd be using my bat.)
Yay back to normal, awesome gameplay! It gets so stressful to try to keep up with everyone at the same time... it was fun at first but now its just like... UUGGGHHHHH
You walk and walk and walk, and then you find a small town! There is a grocery store, hospital, and a few other places in the distance. What will you do?
I'm fine with giving people NPC companions though. If you don't know what that means, its random survivors that I create and let adventure with you, if you accept them that is.
