This game has been inspired by a dead forum game that I can't remember the name of. I did not intend to steal, I just wanted to revive the concept.
[FOREWORD] You might remember some super complicated forum games I used to submit. All of them died, some with NO replies whatsoever. So I thought to myself, 'let's make the next one as simple as possible', and at the same time, I suddenly remembered a forum game I saw a long time ago. I thought 'now that might just be an idea' and I started typing... You don't need to read all of this. It's mainly there to clear things up. Just play and watch things develop.
[MAIN MECHANICS] The player, who is actually everyone, will be given a situation. Your job is to think of any way, it can be crazy, completely nuts, just as long as it's reasonable. ONLY REALISTIC THINGS THAT EXIST IN REAL LIFE!! Otherwise it'll be ignored and not counted. Each time someone has thought of a way to attempt to clear, bypass, or just epically clear a situation, the FIRST person to respond gets the attempt counted. If the attempt can possibly succeed at all, I (the host) will roll a die. What's on the die will affect the outcome of your attempt like so:
(EXAMPLE: You have to jump over a wall.) 6: Too Much of a Good Thing: You succeed, but you succeed so hard, that it becomes bad. Sometimes, it'll put you back where you started. Other times, it might be worse than a 1! (EXAMPLE: You succeed in jumping over the wall, but you jump so far, that you travel the entire world and land right in front of the wall again.) 5: Epic Win: You epically succeed in what you are trying to do, AND you progress much further than you expected you would! (EXAMPLE: You jump over this wall AND the wall you were supposed to jump over next, at the same time, while doing an uncountable amount of backflips!) 4: Success: You succeed. No more, no less. This will be the most plain and boring outcome most of the time. (EXAMPLE: You jump over the wall smoothly and land on your feet.) 3: Partial Success: You succeed in your task but run into trouble while -and sometimes also after- doing so. (EXAMPLE: You jump, but hit your leg at the top. That puts you out of balance, and you land on your behind, at the other side of the wall. Ouch. 2: Fail: You do not succeed in your task. In the more dangerous situations, this can cost you your life. In the situations where time is not a factor, you try again, perhaps with a scratch or two. In this case, the same situation will restart. (EXAMPLE: You make a smooth and stylish jump, perfectly flat into the wall. You hurt your face in the progress. (with style!). And no, you did not get to the other side.) 1: Horrible Fail: You somehow fail so hard, that you, most of the time, majorly hurt yourself, or even kill yourself, just by the attempt alone. This will almost always deal long-lasting damage to your body. (EXAMPLE: You almost jump over the wall, but on your way down you hit the wall with your crotch and fall back down, on the side where you came from. You break your neck when you land.) X: Can't possibly work: Sometimes, if an attempt is so retarded that it can not work, or the environment doesn't allow you to do what you specified, or you do something else then trying to complete the objective, I will not roll a die at all. Instead, I will tell you you fail because your attempt simply cannot possibly succeed. (EXAMPLE: You attempt to walk through the wall, but you hit your face and every other body part into the wall. Soon after, you realize that it's just not possible to walk straight through a brick wall.)
[SACRED LAWS OF THEE PARTICIPATING ENTITIES] 1. Thou shalt post serious attempts, only those that existeth in real life. No fantasy or sci-fi! 2. [THE GAME] Here's what the summary looks like. This also contains the objective. Body Damage specifies how much damage you have done to your body. Life Force specifies how much you can take before you die. Last Roll indicates what was rolled last. Result indicates the result of the attempt. Objective lists what you need to do next. Sometimes, you're free to do what you like. Othertimes, you have no choice. Look at your Thoughts for more information and tips on what you could do.
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Perfect Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Perfect Hands: Perfect Hip: Perfect Legs: Perfect Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up -STUFF- Last Roll: 0 Result: - Objective: You wake up in a dark room. You can't see a thing. You feel you are lying on something soft. What will you attempt to do? Thoughts: Where am I? I don't remember a thing... and I can't see a thing... I used to be walking somewhere with light, I think even today, but that's really all I can recall. I feel like I'm lying somewhere soft... a bed? Maybe I should try finding a light switch... or maybe I should get out of here right now? Either way, I've got a bad feeling about this. I have to think fast. ___
This is not complicated, just list an attempt and I'll roll and advance the story. That simple.
You do not need to post the sheet. I list everything there to make everything clear. To recap, the first person to post an attempt counts, unless of course it's fantasy/sci-fi/spam.
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Perfect Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Perfect Hands: Perfect Hip: Perfect Legs: Perfect Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up! -STUFF- Last Roll: 5 Result: You adjust your eyes and can vaguely make out a doorknob. The door seems to be locked. You roundhouse kick the door but you miss and destroy the wall next to it instead, as a chainsaw would destroy butter and Chuck Norris would destroy this entire universe. Coincidentally, you hit the light switch too which was on that part of the wall. The door seemed to lead into a dangerous room with lots of obstacles, but the hole in the wall ended up in a long hallway. Seems to be very safe... Objective: There's a long, empty hallway in front of you. The light switch lighted it up. It seems safe at first glance. Looking forward, that dangerous room also lead to this hallway eventually. Thoughts: I should probably walk forward, that's common sense, though I still have a bad feeling about this. It's so quiet here that I'm almost expecting a terrible monster or something to come out. But it's not like I've got anywhere else to go...
(NOTE: You thoughts aren't always really what's gonna happen, it's what you're THINKING of.)
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Great (minor pain from fall) Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Perfect Hands: Perfect Hip: Perfect Legs: Heavily wounded all over (stuck in spikes) Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up! -STUFF- Last Roll: 6 Result: You were looking so closely and awesomely that you stop paying attention to everything else, trip and make a terrible fall, flat on your face (Head took minor damage!). On the upside, you saw a camouflaged spike trap and know exactly how to avoid it. You wouldn't have seen it without your awesome perception! On the downside, you fell on top of it and get your legs skewered in spikes! (Legs took terrible damage!) Another upside is that the spikes themselves are stopping you from bleeding to death. Objective: Your legs are currently stuck in a spike trap. The trap doesn't have hooks on it, however if you try to get out your legs may start to bleed. Don't worry about what to do too much, worry more about the dice! Find a good way out of this mess! Thoughts: AH GOD! The pain is almost unbearable! I failed so hard there! First seeing an impossible to see trap and then falling into it anyway... ugh... If I stay in, well, I'll die from hunger or something, so let's scrap that. But if I get out I'll bleed to death if I don't act fast and think of something to do after that. I have to think of a way to get out without bleeding to death... I just wanna get out of here and go home, wherever that is... ...
(NOTE: Your ideas don't need to be awesome as long as they're not terribly improbable. Luck can always save you, or kill you!)
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Great Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Perfect Hands: Perfect Hip: Perfect Legs: Heavily wounded (bandaged, will not bleed) Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up! -STUFF- Last Roll: 5 Result: You get out of the spikes and in the same, swift, super fast move you rip your shirt off as if you were the Hulk and put it over your legs. You didn't lose a single drop of blood in the process! It's still hard to move, but it'll do... Objective: You got out unscathed! (in a manner of speaking) You're still at the beginning of the hallway. There might be more traps around What now? Thoughts: Wow, I can't beleive I just did that. That was so f@&(ing scary! Well, let's just hope it doesn't EVER, EVER happen again. So I could check for other traps.
(NOTE: If you're on a major fail streak, don't worry abouty staying in the same spot forever. Eventually the fails will let you progress. If you're still alive.)
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Great Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Perfect Hands: Perfect Hip: Perfect Legs: Heavily wounded (bandaged, will not bleed) Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up! -STUFF- Last Roll: 3 Result: You decide to toss one of your shoes, and you trigger a few traps. Was that really all of them...? Your shoe got entirely destroyed. Objective: That's the end of your shoe! With one shoe on and the other on, it becomes even harder to walk! Despite that, you should get out of here soon! May the dice be with you... Thoughts: Nice, though I don't think that was all of them. I should try to get out of here, but I'm still a bit afraid a trap might spring at me.
(NOTE: Sometimes, if your character has no way of knowing how something went, look at the number next to Last Roll to see how it went. Remember 1 Epic Fail - Everything goes wrong and you take massive damage. 2 Fail - Most things go wrong, maybe some damage. 3 Partial Success - It only goes partially according to plan. 4 Success - The most plain and boring outcome. You succeed. 5 Epic Success - You succeed in what you need to do and progress much further than planned. 6 OVERSUCCESS - You succeed so hard that it becomes a fail.
By the way, spartandestroyer, the minecraft guy does not exist in real life. Thus, you cannot call him. Only realistic things are allowed! But if it was allowed you would have gotten an X anyway because you're not carrying a phone or anything for that matter besides clothes.
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Great Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Lightly wounded [6 moves until Life Force damage] (bleeding slowly) Hands: Perfect Hip: Great Legs: Heavily wounded [3 moves until partial heal] (bandaged, will not bleed, cannot run) Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up! -STUFF- Last Roll: 6 (We're doing great, aren't we?) Result: After trying to search your inventory, you realize you have nothing to put items in. So you just take your other shoe and throw it. You throw it so hard that you probably trigger all the traps in the room. I've got bad news and bad news and good news. Bad news; The shoe was thrown so hard that it, from the end of the hallway bounced back at you, right in your crotch. (Hip area took minor damage!) Bad news; One of the triggered traps was a laser trap and coincidentally hit you in the arm as it triggered. (Arm took some damage!) Good news; You surely must have triggered all the traps after throwing so hard! Objective: No shoes left, no traps left, and by hitting yourself in the crotch, no dignity left either. You do get to keep your virginity though! Get to the end of the hallway, then we'll see what to do next. Don't worry too much about your arms, they'll recover soon. Life Force can recover too. Thoughts: OUCH GEEZ!! I can't beleive I threw that hard! I also can't beleive it bounced back at me! Well, let's just get to the end of the hallway as quickly as I can!
(NOTE: Don't worry too much about Life Force damage, mostly if your wounds recover, your Life Force will too. There are these levels of damage for each body part Perfect (YAAAAY!) Great (This just brings you closer to the bad stuff) Okay (It might get harder to use from this point forward) Lightly wounded (this is where it'll start bleeding.) Heavily wounded (it'll bleed quicker from this point forward) Mortally wounded (one Life Force damage per move!) Almost Severed (also 1 Life Force damage/move, but brings you closer to amputation.) Severed (You'll probably die soon if you see this. 2 Life Force Damage/move. Doing this to Head or Torso means instant death. If it happens to your arms, your hands are also gone. If legs your feet are also gone.) Life Force has a bit different names.
-BODY DAMAGE- Head: Great Neck: Perfect Torso: Perfect Arms: Lightly wounded [5 moves until Life Force damage] (bleeding slowly) Hands: Perfect Hip: Great Legs: Heavily wounded [2 moves until partial heal] (bandaged, will not bleed, cannot run) Feet: Perfect Life Force: Perfect -WARNINGS/BANS- None, keep it up! -STUFF- Last Roll: 5 Result: You start to hop to the end, but suddenly you somersault all the way through the roof and land on the second floor. Don't ask how and why. Looking back, you see that at the end of the last hallway, there were stairs leading to a room behind you that seems to have a lava trap with a rope above it. Good thing you got to skip that! Objective: Upon landing, you see some people who are armed to the teeth patrolling the area. Quickly, you jump behind a corner. They didn't see you. They seem to be guarding something... perhaps it has something to do with your memory? Thoughts: WOO! I have no idea why I did that. There's nobody who can see my epic moves! Well, it turned out to be for the better, I don't want to Tarzan my way over that lava pit with the rope. I have to get by the guards, I think that what they are guarding might help me recover my memory. I just know it. They are heavily armed, I could get seriously hurt if they see me. How will I get by them?
(NOTE: No matter how good you're doing, getting bad dice can always kill you. I would say plan your dice, but you can't... )
