Kingdom Wars A strategy sort of forum game. I planned of this being a player versus player game but it would be too much of a pain... >_>
Goal to this Game What are you supposed to do in this game? Simple, take over other kingdom lands and just hope that your's stays maintained enough so that it doesn't go to poop.
Kingdom Sheet Kingdom: (Choose one from the map) Stability: 50% Wealth: Average Army: 20 (Distribute army into Infantry, Archers and Cavalry) Enemies: None Allies: None
The Kingdoms
Germany - The first settlers to come to this small land, the Germans are olden Vikings who have arrived with no intentions other than riches and power. They live on the North-Western Coast of the island. The Germanic Vikings have the absolute best infantry that can even withstand multiple arrow shots and spear stabs before going down. Due to having the best infantry, they are limited to being an infantry only kingdom, with the exception of sometimes being able to throw axes and spears. They have extremely large shields that sometimes are larger than the wielder themself. The Germans don't make very good allies, since they believe they are only the true kingdom to rule. Nevertheless, they a force to be reckoned with.
Italy - The Italians were originally part of Rome, but rebels arised and they left to create their own kingdom. They live on the South-Western sea cliffs of the island. The Italians have a balanced concetration of spear-armed infantry and crossbowmen. They do not have cavalry though, since their living area is generally mountainous. Italian armies are generally more focused on defense than offense, which means charging in is probably not a good idea. They are a rich kingdom, but that doesn't mean they will last very long.
Rome - The Romans are a powerful kingdom, but suffer instability. They live on the West coast of the island. Rome's army is a difficult force to deal with, which consists of powerful cavalry and infantry. Their horses are well armored and their horsemen carry lances and spears so deadly that they are able to take down many enemies in a single hit, with the exception of Germanic Vikings. Their infantry wield heavy weapons such as war hammers and maces and relatively smaller shields than other armies. However, they do not have any archers to support them. The Romans are a difficult kingdom to maintain, but in a good fight it is probable that they will win.
Russia - The Russians are more of a neutral kingdom, but in time of war, they will not hesitate to fight. They live in the North-Eastern tundra forests of the island. Russian armies purely consist of well trained, expert archers that have deadly accuracy as well as powerful drawing power that can release more powerful projectiles that fly through the air. Due to being an archer only kingdom, it is recommended that forces are kept back out of the battlefield and close together so that dealing with close combat forces are not a problem. Russian armies are highly based on defense, so if you send your archers charging in, then you have already lost.
Mongolia - The home of the Great Khan. They are an agressive kingdom, and altough they have many enemies, most of them hesitate to do anything to them, let alone fight them. They live on the Western grasslands of the island. They are known for their power and constant wins against enemy forces. Their armies are cavalry only, which matches Roman cavalry, only slightly stronger and faster. Mongolian armies are fit for tactics such as Scatter then Attack or Hit and Run. But really, they are ideal in almost any situation. Becoming allies with this kingdom will prove useful, for some time at least. As there is a great chance that Mongolia will turn back on you.
Persia - Persia uses a healthy balance of archers, infantry and cavalry. But they don't have much advantages, other than being able to command all three types of soldiers. They live in the Southern deserts of the island. Their infantry is average, they can hold up enemy attackers but not for too long. Their archers are decent as well, but usually they aren't reliable. But their cavalry however, is quite remarkable. Persian cavalry matches up to Roman cavalry, only being slightly weaker. Persians are lifelong, reliable allies that will usually help out when needed.
Calradia - Not much is known about Calradia. Other than the widely known fact that they have taken of much of the island. (Players may not join this kingdom)
I've had enough of this, I order my troops to START MOVING SOUTH TOWARDS ITALY and conquer the territory from Caldaria we step on and make it mine...until I reach Italy.
The building of the barricades is halted, and you and your army begin to move south. The Italians notice you, and they move north. A battle is to become soon. The Mongolians and the Germans expand their territory as well.
Current Thinking
Italy - We should prepare for the assault on Rome.
Germany - We should continue expanding to Russian territory until we are close enough for attack.
Mongolia - We should keep expanding until we reach Persian territory.
Russia - We should stay put until the Germans attack.
Recruit any mercenaries I find on the way to help in our upcoming war agaisnt Italy. I order my troops still to breach south and also search for mercenaries on the way. I go south until I reach the Italian border.
You march through unprotected Calradia territory to meet Italian borders. You manage to recruit 4 Infantry, 6 Cavalry, and 12 Crossbowmen. The battle is about to commence... Germany and Mongolia move further into Calradia territory as well.
Battle: Italy's 10 Crossbowmen and 23 Infantry vs Rome's ??? (Post which troops will participate in battle)
Current Thinking
Italy - Battle is beginning, crossbowmen in the back while the infantry will stand guard.
Germany - Keep moving east towards Russian territory.
Mongolia - Keep moving south towards Persian territory.
Russia - The Germans are getting close, we should stand guard and prepare for the battle.
All my troops will participate in battle. If they are scared, then get the hell off my army! Now I place my Crossbowmen in front to shoot them their army until they come to me.
@loco5 - Hey sorry but I didn't say anything about heavy and light infantry or mounted archers. Oh and you can always get more people in your army by: recruiting from your kingdom or other kingdoms (not recommended if you recruit from others) or pay to recruit already highly trained soldiers.
i found "infantry" too general of a term, so i just divvied them up according to equipment, no self respecting "army" would only have clubs and tiger skins
The crossbowmen march to the front of the group and prepare to aim. The cavalry and infantry stay in the back, gripping their swords with nervousness. They hold their ground, and shake it off. The Italian crossbowmen release a volley of areas, hitting a few of your crossbowmen. Your crossbowmen fire as well, hitting at least 5 of their infantry. The arrow fight goes on until they all run out of arrows.
Response to Loco5. Sir, we will trade in some of our military army and very much wealth, sir. Please, do you agree? We also need help in our war agaisnt Italy! Thanks sir.
About the battle. While their troops are distracted by the Crossbowmen, I send the Cavalry and Infantry to attack their army from the sides.
*sigh* you call it a strategy, yet i find myself unable to micromanage

...fine i go help him against italy (enemy statistics?)
Sir, currently they have 16 Infantry soldiers, and 4 Crossbowmen, sir. Thanks for your aid sir, we count on you, sir.
here's the plan, simple bait and switch you send 2 infantry and i'll send two infantry that will make up the middle of our formation, it'll look weak and tempting for the enemy, so when they attack the center my troops and your troops on the left and right flanks respectively will envelope the enemy surrounding them, if they don't surrender they die
also to deal with the archer we'll both send 2 "cavalrymen" at them, their speed should aid them
If you don't like the way my game works then you can leave... If so, Persia will become a non-player kingdom instead.
Your army starts to work their way through Calradia, but halfway you are stopped by a couple of bandits who ambush your troops. 1 infantry is killed by an arrow shot to the neck, and the bandits flee. ---------------------------------------
Your cavalry and infantry split up and flank the enemy. The cavalry hit and run, but the infantry stay in the fight. The crossbowmen are quickly eliminated by the cavalry. The infantry are still fighting with each other.
