This is, quite simply, a cut-and-dried fantasy RPG. The fighting system is based off of GM discretion - that is, the more well thought out and skillfully articulated your move is, the more planning you have put into it, will determine whether or not you succeed. Creativity and logic - not dicerolls and math - will be the deciding factors in this RPG.

I will only accept four people - one warrior, one mage, one ranger, and one rogue - and you will all work together to make your way through what I hope to be an engaging, thought-provoking plot.

Have fun.

Name: [Fairly obvious, but your character must have both a given name and a surname - that is, first and last. Both must fit a fantasy setting; there will be more Elronds than Johns.]
Gender: [Male or female, quite simple really.]
Age: [Your character must be at least 16 years of age, and cannot be more than 32 or so. Anyone younger wouldn't be going on a quest, and anyone older would likely be a veteran of several quests.]
----------
Appearance: [At least four sentences written in passable english. Use specific numbers for height and weight or I will add them myself, and you may not be happy with them.]
Race: [Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf, or Half-Orc. It is assumed that half-elves and half-orcs are also half-humans, because anything else would be... strange, given the size of dwarves and the hatred between elves and orcs.]
Class: [Warrior, Mage, Ranger, or Rogue. I will only be accepting one of each.]
----------
Inventory:
- [Leave this blank. I will fill it out based on your class.]
Skills:
- [Leave this blank. I will fill it out based on your class.]
----------
Equipped:
- [Leave this blank. I will fill it out based on your class.]

Name: Velevan Windcaller
Gender: Male
Age: 22
----------
Appearance: He has long black hair that reaches down to his shoulders and a very pronounced brow ridge, which consequently puts a grim shadow over his amber eyes. Approximately 5'10", light athletic build, and a burn mark on the right forearm. Somewhat bushy eyebrows and large shoulders, though not very muscular by any means. Tends to wear shades of black, grey or a forest green, though vibrant colors like red, lighter blues and purples aren't off the color pallet either.
Race: Elf
Class: Mage

Velevan, thoug having extreme contempt for Orcs, does nothing initially. When tye arrows start flying and the swords are drawn though, he launches a bolt at Orc #2 and then runs up to whack Orc #6 in the face with his staff.

Name: Arashi Kouken
Gender: Male
Age: 24

Appearance: Tall, muscular, and swarthy, Arashi is every inch the ranger. Though older than his usual companions, Arashi is in the prime of his youth and is proud to show it-- six and a half feet tall, he's an even two hundred pounds. Despite his relatively youthful age, Arashi's hair is an unruly shock of white that he doesn't even bother trying to keep under control. His standard outfit consists of something that almost appears to be a ninja uniform, colored matte black-- certainly not something one would wear to a party, but more than practical for Arashi's usual work.

The first adventurer to spring into action was Nicholas Blivio, who leaped bravely through the air with little regard for personal safety, shortsword drawn and held high. However, he quickly learns that when you're taller than your target, jumping on them isn't an incredibly effective tactic, and he ends up with one knee smashing into the half-orc's ribcage and his left arm slung over the half-orc's shoulder. Shields smash into jaws, feet scrabble at knees, and then Nicholas remembers why he jumped on in the first place.

Driving his sword downwards, the warrior learns another important fact about how anatomy affects the course of a battle: the back of the skull has no holes in it, unlike the front, and at such miniscule ranges he can't draw his sword back far enough to do any more than slice the half-orc's ear off and gouge at the thick bone separating his blade from the half-orc's skull.

That's about the time the drunken half-orc takes an arrow to the knee and his leg crumples out from under him, sending all three hundred pounds of his hulking body collapsing to the ground. Right on top of Nicholas Blivio, who finds himself unable to wriggle out from under the half-orc, being less than half the drunken creature's weight.

Meanwhile, a few more arrows fly through the air, finding themselves embedded in the vague center of various half-orc legs, none as well-aimed as the first but all at least hitting their targets.

From the shadows, Storm Keket Dragon suddenly lunged, her willowy frame held close to the ground as she moved to drive both of her knives into the weakest available points of the half-orc passing directly in front of her. An arrow in his lower right leg presents the first opportunity, and, for lack of a better target, his left knee takes the second knife. Storm soon finds that bone is difficult to sever in one strike, especially with only a small knife, but by now the half-orc she had chosen to attack was registering pain, and with a roar his fist smashed into her withdrawing elbow, sending the elf sprawling for a moment.

Rushing past was Velevan Windcaller, having stunned the half-orc she was fighting with his well-timed Bolt and in fact bringing the creature down to ground level with its force. With a mighty swing, his staff arcs through the air and its base smashes viciously into the face of the bewildered half-orc last in line, the most drunk of them all. For a moment he stares at Velevan through the pulpy mixture of bone fragments, chunks of nose, and thick blood splattered in a sickeningly chunky veil over his eyes. Then he falls over, unable to be roused from unconsciousness even by the arrow to the knee that he takes moments later.

DAMAGES:
Half-Orc A: He has been all but scalped by Nicholas's frenzied slashing, his cheek has a nice deep gash which happens to be gushing blood on the left side, his right knee has an arrow sticking out of the back, and his back is bruised from landing on a scrawny warrior.
Half-Orc B: His right knee has been gouged and the majority of the tendons there have been slashed from behind. Just below this, embedded in the back of his shin bone, is an arrow.
Half-Orc C: He is very intoxicated. And he also has an arrow in the back of his right thigh.
Half-Orc D: He is so intoxicated that he can't even count his noses.
Half-Orc E: You don't WANT to know how ridiculously intoxicated he is.
Half-Orc F: This little piggy is unconscious with a smashed face. The majority of what appears to be his nose is lying a few feet away, and there is an arrow in the back of his right knee.

Storm Keket Dragon: A bruise of a pleasant purple shade now adorns her left elbow.
Velevan Windcaller: His robe and staff are slightly bloodied from having just been used to bash a half-orc's face in, but blood splatters aren't real damage, so... uh, Bolt will be ready for use in 24 more seconds.
Nicholas Blivio: His lungs are constricted by the hulk of half-orc flailing about on top of him, and his back is bruised and cut from smashing into the ground. There is a nice red gash where the hilt of his sword actually hit his own shoulder, because that's what happens when what you're trying to stab simply isn't able to be stabbed.
Arashi Kouken: Still a strikingly handsome devil clad all in black, and still standing on a rooftop. Aim will be ready for use in 34 more seconds.

POSITIONS:
Arashi Kouken is on a roof ten feet behind Half-Orc F, who is lying on the ground just in front of Velevan Windcaller. Twenty feet further along, Half-Orc A is lying on top of Nicholas Blivio, both of whom are flailing around and trying to get to their feet. Next to them, about five feet to the left and wrestling in the dirt, lie Half-Orc B and Storm Keket Dragon. Half-Orcs C, D, and E are standing in the middle of everything looking very confused and trying to figure out which hero looks most easily punchable.

For your convenience, I drew a crude diagram and took a picture of it with my cellphone because I'm too lazy to go put it in the scanner. Yes you need to rotate it, ImageShack screwed with its rotation. :<

Velevan backs away from the 3 orcs with a hateful fire in his eyes, his staff in a parry position at mid-chest. The first Orc to move towards him, he jumps through the air to land a hard staff jab to the throat/chin area, and he then ducks from the ( predicted) blow of the other 2 Orcs to whack the countered Orc in the ankle with his staff.

OOC: Are there bladed staffs for both Mage and combat purposes? Since I cant afford to wait the entire cooldown period or spells.

[@SirNoobalot: There aren't, but you could always get a spear or something else. Your classes don't determine what you can and can't wield - if you want to take the mace off of a fallen ogre or something, I'm not going to stop you. But until some other weapon becomes available to you, staff combat is actually pretty cool, in my opinion.]

OOC: What about, say, a magic staff with a firmly anchored magic-channeling ball on one end for bludgeoning effect?

[@SirNoobalot: That is pretty much what most staffs look like, barring the plain wooden ones... like the one I gave to the starting mage. But yes, most of the best staffs have heavy gemstones, knotty bits of wood, or something with some weight to it on one end, generally the top.]

Arashi cocked a mental eyebrow at the others who decided to intervene. Apparently, drunk orc parties attracted attention, all of it unofficial. Of course, as at least one member of this new group found it was to attempt to commit murder in the middle of a town, Arashi had his doubts about them.

Arashi, on the other hand, was just assaulting them. With a complete disregard for anyone's safety but his own. He kept up his fire, still aiming to cripple his targets... but he only fired when one of them made a move toward the mage or the girl.

The guy stuck under the orc was on his own.

Kicking and struggling like a fish caught on a hook, Nicholas Blivio attempts to wrench himself out from under the hulking chunk of half-orc fat weighing him down, and takes a punch to the face for his trouble. The key here is that the half-orc is far bigger, not encumbered by weaponry, and... well, Nicholas just doesn't have the strength to haul such a creature off of him. Sudden free of the half-orc's pin anyways, though, the warrior aims a kick upwards. It isn't a particularly well-planned kick, but he manages to slam his foot into the half-orc's abdomen nonetheless, scrambling to his feet quickly and raising his sword.

The half-orc, however, is prepared, having been able to gather his limited wits while Nicholas had been getting to his feet, and moves in with a painful blow to the abdomen, as if in retribution. Nicholas feels (and hears) a rib crack. It's one of his own.

Fighting through the pain, the human draws back his sword, and thrusts it forth with the might of an underweight warrior with a cracked rib. However, this time he chose the right target, and by a stroke of luck his sword slips between the half-orc's ribs and strikes home just about where Nicholas judged a lung to be. The sickening squelch and hiss that followed confirms his suspicions, just around the time the angry, one-lunged orc punches him in the face again.

Meanwhile, Storm Keket Dragon is doing heated battle with her own assailant, and has considerably more success in getting to her feet unhindered, courtesy of Velevan's earlier Bolt spell. As her opponent raises himself, she slips by, feinting left and twirling like a ballerina to her right, and then stabbing him just underneath the left shoulderblade (also in much the same manner that I imagine a ballerina would stab someone).

As the injured half-orc turns and goes for a punch, which slams into her left elbow and actually wrenches the bones apart in ways bones were never meant to be wrenched apart, Storm manages to withdraw her daggers and, with a final, desperate show of bravery and strength, practically falls behind him, catching herself at the last moment by driving both daggers into his lower back on the way down.

One on either side of his lower spinal column, in fact.

The way that the two blades come together as she drags them downwards is a lot like how one imagines a guillotine would, severing the spine rather completely at that point. With a few kicking spasms, the half-orc's legs stiffen, bent in odd half-turning half-lunging positions. Down but not out, he ends the round biting Storm in the ankle and getting an arrow lodged in his face thanks to Arashi.

Twenty feet down the street, three orcs are converging on one mage, who has managed to convince himself that he's ready to move from breaking one orc's nose to taking on three of the creature's buddies on at once. Luckily, Arashi Kouken has seen his predicament, and as Velevan Windcaller advances the half-orcs take several arrows, not as well-aimed as the previous barrage but still very helpful. Within seconds, though, they meet Velevan in melee, and that's where things get interesting.

Staff jabs are actually pretty effective, and landing one to the neck is a pretty painful situation for the nearest half-orc to find himself in. Luckily, however, he has a buddy beside him... and that buddy quickly finds that a staff to the ankle, while not fatal, is very painful, his punch sailing through the air where Velevan's head had been moments ago. The momentum carries him to the ground, actually allowing him to shoulder the enterprising mage in the thigh, but still leaving him prostrate in the dirt.

Arashi, at this point, has several options. He could kill the fallen half-orcs, or make a go at the one still standing and coming at Velevan despite his scratchy breathing. He chooses the latter, putting an arrow in the half-orc's hip and staggering the creature before he can strike at Velevan, whose plan has ended just in time for him to retreat before the end of the round.

The part where, you know, Arashi shoots the half-orc biting Storm.

DAMAGES:
Half-Orc A: He has been all but scalped by Nicholas's frenzied slashing, his cheek has a nice deep gash which happens to be gushing blood on the left side, his right knee has an arrow sticking out of the back, and his back is bruised from landing on a scrawny warrior. Oh, and his left lung has collapsed thanks to a stab wound.
Half-Orc B: Various slash and stab wounds would hinder his mobility to an extreme degree, were he conscious, but an arrow entering his left ear and poking out of his left eye into the dirt rather hinder that. He's out for the count, not dead by some miracle (small brain, small target) but not in the game anymore either.
Half-Orc C: He is very intoxicated. And he also has an arrow in the back of his right thigh.
Half-Orc D: His throat is bruised up nicely, and his windpipe is a bit constricted, having had a staff jabbed into it at point-blank range while charging. His left hip has been all but shattered by an arrow now lying broken in the mud a few feet away, but he can still stand. Walking is more of an issue.
Half-Orc E: His left ankle is twisted and bruised, but intact.
Half-Orc F: This little piggy is unconscious with a smashed face. The majority of what appears to be his nose is lying a few feet away, and there is an arrow in the back of his right knee.

Storm Keket Dragon: A bruise of a dark, unpleasant purple shade now adorns her left elbow, which has been bent at rather an odd angle, leaving the arm usable but not really bendable. The front of her right ankle sports a bite mark which is bleeding a bit but not really hindering her otherwise.
Velevan Windcaller: Apart from being bloodied and now a bit sweaty as well, and his left thigh is sore, with a very light bruise forming. Bolt will be ready for use in 18 more seconds.
Nicholas Blivio: His lungs are still slightly constricted, though quickly returning to full capacity, and his back is bruised and cut from smashing into the ground. There is a nice red gash where the hilt of his sword actually hit his own shoulder, his nose is broken in two entirely different places and not looking too much like a nose anymore, and the pain from this is no small matter. Black spots occasionally obscure his vision, as does blood from his shattered nose. The rest of his face is alright though, so... well, small victories. If he were drunk or untrained he would be unconscious right now.
Arashi Kouken: Still a strikingly handsome devil clad all in black, and still standing on a rooftop. Aim will be ready for use in 28 more seconds.

POSITIONS:
Half-Orc A is standing at a very strange angle, cradling his empty, flapping lung just in front of Nicholas Blivio. Five feet away from them, across the street, Half-Orc B's incapacitated body lies at Storm Keket Dragon's feet. Twenty feet down the street from them, Half-Orc C is limp-jogging furiously towards Velevan Windcaller, who is facing Half-Orc D at point-blank range ten more feet down the street. Half-Orc E is on the ground directly to his left-hand side, almost in a position to continue fighting, and Arashi Kouken is about ten feet to Velevan's right, standing on a rooftop. The body of Half-Orc F is on the ground between them, unconscious and not feeling well.

[Apologies for the delay, but the round was extra brutal as compensation. Yesterday I had a science project due and a dental appointment, and... I've only actually managed to get about a dozen hours of sleep total in the past few days, which isn't something I'm good at handling. Almost fell asleep in class a few times. I'll probably be faster than this most of the time, but anyways, forgive me for this one.

Also, just so you know, each round is 6 seconds. You should probably keep that in mind when writing your moves, because otherwise your character will either continue one repetitive strategy all round or retreat when the move is complete, which worked here for Velevan but will usually put you in a bad place as far as damage goes. Plan for 6-second moves. It's better to leave a move incomplete and have to improvise next round than to just waste a round standing around ineffectually because your move only took up a single second.

ItBoMS will be updated tonight as well, in case anyone's wondering.]

[He is not dead or even unconscious, just in pain and not able to move very well. Of course, with a lung filling with blood, he'll be dead soon, but...

Also, Half-Orc B is already unconscious, in case you were wondering.]

If time allows, bring the staff up from smashing E's head in to land a blow right on D's jaw. If another second or so left, then sidestep C's charge.
