Bio: *sigh* You asked for it. Nothing short, you said. So don't be surprised.
Was born in then-capital Nara to parents of nobility. Unfortunately, these two parents were from two separate sides of the rift, so to speak; one, his mother, was from a family of ninjas who supported ninjas, and his father was a samurai himself and whose entire side of the family(the males, that is) were samurai. The two were forced to marry to unify their warring factions and prevent massive bloodshed from continuing. Unfortunately, this desperate attempt was unsuccessful, and they were left just as war-torn as before, but this time married to the enemy. Yikes! So anyway, the two parents were unable to divorce and unable to fight each other so they began a war to conquer their only son, Takao. Both side wanted him for their own, and Nakamura was torn between his father and his mother both wanting conflicting futures for him. He was unable to choose, and as a result, the two halves of his family fought each other, literally, with swords and shurikens and the like. With the lives of so many of his family members, whom he all loved, on the line, Takao finally made a forced decision to be a ninja. Unfortunately, this last-ditch attempt for peace was, like his parents' matrimony, unsuccessful, and the two factions continued to fight. By this point, the Nakamuras were no more than an excuse for the samurais and ninjas to fight and there was no stopping the war. The ninja side of Takao's family took him in and began to train him to be a ninja, which he did not want at all. He actually wanted to be a scribe, but he had no choice. So he trained under his family to be a ninja. He was sent to a battle(remember, at this point in time he'd be about nine or ten years old) to fight, but he could not bring himself to kill anyone, least of all his own family members. He was trapped by the samurais in a burning building, where he received the scar on his arm trying to escape. Luckily, the noble samurais refused to let a child die, and so they rescued him from the burning building. Unluckily, this meant that he was now their prisoner of war. For choosing the side of the ninjas over the samurai, the samurai whipped Takao brutally, causing the scars on his back. Then, after they had punished Takao, the samurais set him free and let him leave. Takao was now hopelessly confused and did not know whose side he was on; in fact, he did not want to be on anyone's side at all. At this point, all he knew was that his parents, and indeed his entire family, were busy killing each other and there was nothing he could do about it. So, feeling like a coward, Takao fled from Nara to a Buddhist temple, where the monks took him in. They nursed him back to health from his burns and lashes. Seeing the peaceful environment that the monks enjoyed, Takao requested to join them in their way of life. After some debate, he was finally accepted into the temple and allowed to stay there, as a scribe making copies of their documents and teachings on bamboo scrolls. It was difficult and time-consuming work, but he enjoyed the labor. He stayed with the monks for a few years, but even though he liked the monks and the way of life he now had, he could not forget what had occurred with his family. So, after saying his good-byes, Takao returned to Nara to find that both his father and mother had been killed, along with almost all of his family, and those who were still alive were missing. He himself had been disowned after his cowardly escape, and was in complete disgrace. Now Takao finds himself trying to pick up the pieces of his life.
