You are an entrepreneur. You want to start a business, right?
What kind of business? Who knows? Here's a list of them.

Medical Clinic***
Factory*
Research Lab***
Prison
Restaurant
School(primary or secondary)**
School(college)***
Make your own

Now, we all know that the above is a little vague. Why? Well, that would be because you will be given opportunities to branch off.
Also; you see those little asterisks next to some of the businesses? That indicates what you and/or your employees need to have in order to work there. Of course, a higher degree would also be acceptable
*-High School Diploma.
**-Master's Degree.
***-Doctoral Degree.
The higher degree required, the more money people are willing to pay.

EMPLOYEES
At any point in time, you can start hiring people, but be warned, if you do so you will be absolutely swimming in resumes! It's your job to decide who you want to hire for the job based on the resume and the interview. There is no maximum number of employees that you can have, nor is there really a minimum, but the prudent entrepreneur knows that balance is necessary. Why? If you have a big business later in the game but not many employees, chances are that you're understaffed and your employees that you have will start doing sub-par work. And if you're a small company with too many employees, chances are that you will be paying too much in employees' wages and won't make a lot of money. So be careful with that. There are minimum wage laws in place, but you can try to skirt those, as well as other things such as working conditions. But if an employee tells on you, you'll pay a fine, so watch out! Other than minimum wages and working conditions, anything is legal. You can have holiday bonuses, vacations, insurance, employee benefits, etc. Even though this costs money, the more of these things you give your employees the happier they will be. If they are unhappy, they could quit, do badly, go on strike, or something like that, so be careful.

DEGREES
You saw above that some businesses require a degree, and you need a degree to run them! Unfortunately, it costs money to get a degree. Here are the degrees and their costs.
High School Diploma: $100
Master's Degree: $1,000
Doctoral Degree: $10,000
Now, as a basic rule of thumb, the higher education a job needs, the more money you stand to make on that business, so it's really a gamble.
You start the game with $50,000, so you have enough for any degree.

Please note that the Required Structures and Required Tools are just that; required. If you really want to do well, it would be a good idea to have more than the bare minimum.
Another thing; in most businesses, you can take on apprentices(like medical students or residents at a medical center) and they will pay you to let one of your employees teach them the trade.
Watch out for lawsuits! If one of your employees messes up, if you mess with your employees, or something like that, you're liable to be sued!
Now that you know all that, here's your signup sheet. Good luck with this Business Opportunity!

In Progress: Nightsticks En Route To Jail[25%], Uniforms En Route To Jail[25%].

You order 100 nightsticks for $1,500. They will arrive at the jail in 3 turns.
You order 100 uniforms for $2,000. They will arrive at the jail in 3 turns.
You order 1 year's worth of food for $73,000...whoops, you don't have enough money for that! Do you want to take out a loan for it or would you rather buy less of it?
Buy rookies?
You can't 'buy' rookies. You need to hire security guards the same way you're hiring chefs.
You are emailed 2 resumes for potential chefs. Look at them now?

You buy 1 month's worth of cheap food for 10 prisoners. It costs you $9,000(10 prisoners, 3 meals a day, 30 days, $10 a meal). The food will arrive in 3 turns.
You place ads in the paper for guards, parole officers, and rehab officers. Each ad costs %50 per day.

You schedule an interview with all of them, each a few hours apart.
Your first interview is with the first candidate, Robert Quentin Kaiser-Orwell. He's applying for Chef.
He walks into your office...well, it's not really an office, more like a room, but anyway, he walks in. He's dressed nicely, in a suit(although not a very expensive one) and his hair is combed and stuff. He sits down in a chair facing your chair and introduces yourself. You do the same, and shake hands.
What questions will you ask him? What will you say?

"I can explain that," he says evenly. "As for the first one, speeding, I was sixteen. I just got my license and I was late for work because I had to drive my little sister to school because our parents weren't home that day, so I started going faster than normal to get there on time. I didn't realize I was going over the speed limit until after I saw the flashing lights in my rearview mirror. It was a bad decision, but I don't think it was that terrible. I paid off the fine with my own hard-earned money, apologized to the officer and it was all fine.
As for the second one, it was a bad decision and I'll admit that. I was with a bunch of friends and they were even more intoxicated than I was, our home was quite a ways away, and instead of waiting it out like I should have, I drove us all home. I was careful, though, and nobody got hurt. The officer only pulled us over because one of my friends stuck his head out the window and started to cuss him out, and then it all went downhill. Needless to say, I am no longer friends with them, and I do feel sorry about it."
