I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done. I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please
But why did god get himself killed as a blood sacrifice to himself?
He decided to take all our suffering over himself, and manifest Father here. After all, this manifest is still here. The further reasoning is inaccessible.
I was talking about Jews (God's "chosen people" because they were systematically brought to concentration camps and killed.
Well, Ukraine natives of all nationalities were just being shot down in place without extra suffering. Regardless.
That doesn't explain their horrible death.
It should not. Death in general is for sins in general, no one can say whose sins caused them to die like that.
Where do Atheists go? Hell or Purgatory?
I think either way is open until you yourself will decide to go to Hell.
Being dead will be like the time before I was born.
Not exactly. There was no me before I was conceived (note here, after you're conceived, you exist already), but there will still be me after I will die.

People always try to find a reason if something bad happens. But maybe there is no reason behind all of this.

How do you know? There's no proof for anything like a soul.
If ur arrogant enough to believe tht there isnt some kind of higher power, then it usally takes a major event to make them believe. not a simple chat forum. Becuase when u die ur gonna be dead alot longer then ur alive, does tht make sense...
Go tell that to the scientists who helped shape the modern world.
The closest answer will be if someone is making a blood sacrifice for God's cause (aka martyrdom), he manifests God right there right now, and God does the rest. You might as well ask what's the mechanics behind prayers.
So in short we can summon God by killing something for him? Though that doesn't answer the question as to how that makes things better.
If ur arrogant enough to believe tht there isnt some kind of higher power
The sheer lack of evidence is the reason why most don't believe. It has nothing to do with arrogance.

It will just take verifiable objective evidence demonstrating God is indeed real, instead of requiring we take the claim on no proof at all (faith).

Yes that does make sense.

Considering the suffering in the world he did a pretty craptacular job of if for an omnipotent being.
If God has manifested and is still here we should be able to perceive him with our senses. "1: readily perceived by the senses and especially by the sense of sight" Or it would be obvious to us. "2 : easily understood or recognized by the mind : obvious"
This would mean we could objectively verify God's existence, since this isn't the case this either means God is no longer here or never manifested.

Everything that makes up you existed in another state. I was just a state that didn't constitute consciousness.
thats a nice expresion of afterlife you got there.
anyway, you actualy believe in the sence of life and conscious thought after you died? xD
Does it matter what I believe? I'm asking what brings you to the belief that death is the end of the self. Do you have any proof? Any compelling evidence to show that death is the end?

Upon death, the electrical activity in your brain ceases and your body shuts down completely, there's no more thoughts or body functions. Nobody has ever presented any significant or meaningful proof of a 'soul' or self that continues after death and, with the evidence pointing to the complete opposite conclusion, the burden of proving any form of afterlife or something after death falls on those asserting that there is.

does it matter what i believe? i was commenting to some1 els post that did believe in the afterlife. why your not going to him for the proof? i can't be botherd to talk about a subject wich you can't explain in any way because there is no single way in the universe that we will discover what will be after we die. so it's ridiculas from the religions to start talking about this subject. they can't give any proof of a afterlife either.

I'm not going to him for proof because I'm curious what evidence you have to support your claim. I've heard many people try to defend the belief that there is an afterlife, but I've yet to see someone show evidence that there isn't.
If you can't be bothered to talk about a subject which can't be explained, why are you arguing about religion?
lol, i don't believe in afterlife. but still i must proof it? you better ask those that made the claim that there is a afterlife. whitout those people we were not talking about this non-sense
it's not up to me to disproof a claim from some1 els if that some1 els doesn't even give proof for it's claim to exist.
all i do is logic thinking whit the information i got. and what Avorne said is prety much how i see it.

Disbelieving seems to be just as strong for you as believing if you choose to go out of your way to disprove the beliefs of another person, so I'm just asking you if you can prove the belief that there is nothing after death (because that is what you believe, right?)

If we don't have objective verifiable evidence supporting the claim we have no reason to accept that claim.
no, i can't believe or deny afterlife because there is no way we can discover wich 1 it is.
but because afterlife is always connected whit religions, (heaven, hell, walhala, etc.) and i do not believe in any religion. i do not see a reason why i should believe in afterlife.
