I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done.
I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please

So basically he's forgiving me but still tortures me for an eternity? Seems just.

Hey maybe we're actually the favorites.

why would you think you deserve Heaven when you dont even believe in it? THAT is the good question, huh?

simple counter question:
why do we deserve hell if we do not believe in hell either?

And god is also an Atheist because he doesn't believe that a higher deity created him. Maybe we're really his favorites

You'd think that Christians would like (vocal/opinionated) Atheists a little more anyway, I mean, they (the Christians) want to prove to God that even in times when others test their faith they remain resolute in their beliefs - right? They should just see Atheists as another test from God (rather than one from Satan as some Christians seem to believe).

It could ask that you have a personal relationship with reality.

@ Avorne
We see them, (or i do) as both. Of course it is probably from Satan while God is watching to see how we react.

Since this is back to the top I will link a question.
One Question Challenge to Christians

For those who either can't or won't look at the link the question is Who does blood sacrifice make anything better? What's the mechanics behind this?

God is watching to see how we react....

He must jack off a lot if he can watch us XD
But anyway was it really worth restarting just for the sake of agreeing?
By the way I was wondering if all Christians were going to pray on August 6th?

I wonder if that's the answer to the question I posted.

No but I guess if blood sacrificing makes jacking off better for a God then I guess sure.

okay, I'm back from an unexpected time warp in SMAC/X. I wonder if I will have enough time answering anything before page 260, or if it will be relevant to the current part of topic.

Who does blood sacrifice make anything better? What's the mechanics behind this?
The closest answer will be if someone is making a blood sacrifice for God's cause (aka martyrdom), he manifests God right there right now, and God does the rest. You might as well ask what's the mechanics behind prayers.

What will there be on August 6th, besides Transfiguration of Christ feast?

And the 6 million dead Jews during WWII deserved to die, right?!
LOL. Everyone dies one way or another. 25 million(!) Russians and alongside them died, but people don't remember them, they only speak about 6M Jews. And, there's an episode in Lk which explains this pretty well:

There were some present at that very time who told him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered thus? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Silo'am fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." (Lk 13:1-5).

In short: No, but if you won't repent, you'll perish like them.
So basically he's forgiving me but still tortures me for an eternity? Seems just.
Well, that kid missed the point here. There are two places of suffering beyond death, Hell is one where those whose sins are NOT pardoned reside, and Purgatory is the one where those whose sins ARE pardoned reside, and from here they eventually go upwards to Heaven. So if you end up in Hell, you're, well, doomed, otherwise you still have hopes which will be fulfilled eventually.
Hey maybe we're actually the favorites.
You believe in pics drawn by a madman, but don't believe in God? Weird. And that pic contains a flaw, at least in the first argument - a believer is required to do something along with prayer. If he won't do a thing, it's normal that nothing will happen.

If ur arrogant enough to believe tht there isnt some kind of higher power, then it usally takes a major event to make them believe. not a simple chat forum. Becuase when u die ur gonna be dead alot longer then ur alive, does tht make sense...

But why did god get himself killed as a blood sacrifice to himself?

LOL. Everyone dies one way or another.

I was talking about Jews (God's "chosen people&quot because they were systematically brought to concentration camps and killed.

In short: No, but if you won't repent, you'll perish like them.

That doesn't explain their horrible death.

So if you end up in Hell, you're, well, doomed, otherwise you still have hopes which will be fulfilled eventually.

Where do Atheists go? Hell or Purgatory?

a believer is required to do something along with prayer. If he won't do a thing, it's normal that nothing will happen.

What a surprise: Nothing happens until you really do something.

If ur arrogant enough to believe tht there isnt some kind of higher power,

What has my lack of belief to do with arrogance?

then it usally takes a major event to make them believe.

Yep, your god could reveal himself. That would be nice.

Becuase when u die ur gonna be dead alot longer then ur alive, does tht make sense...

Being dead will be like the time before I was born.
