I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done. I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please
You know why Christianity is real. In every religion you have to do things to get into heaven. In Christianity you just have to believe in Christ.
How does that make it real? There are also plenty of variations of Christianity where more is required. There are even some where believing in Christ isn't a requirement. If we are to argue that the lack of requirements makes something more real then wouldn't that make nothing happening with no God existing more likely because it doesn't require anything at all?
What I mean to say. The Christian religion isn't like all the others in rules and things.
Actually we find many religions with similar guidelines that are found in Christianity and really it's just nothing more than an adaptation of Judaism.
For instance in Buddhism we can find rules such as don't harm living beings, don't steal, don't engage in sexual misconduct, don't lie, don't use intoxicating drugs...
The Wiccan religion basically says you can do what you want so long as you don't hurt anyone.
But even if Christianity is so completely different that still doesn't answer how that makes it the correct one.
sorry people, I seem to run out of time discussing anything here. You might still bother me in my profile with any questions you like me to answer, but I might not reply within a time frame required to not get off the current topic in such an active discussion as this. Still I will do my best to reply to everyone. I might still lurk around here.
I'm not sure how xNightwish meant it but if it came from me, you or MGW I would construe it as saying that Christianity is a more "lazy" belief in order to obtain eternal happiness.
I hope that is the case, really. :P

Out of curiosity. Hurt anyone, as in? Physically? Mentally? Financially?

Im not asking for evidence Im asking for hardcore proof.
I think you have been shown proof already; what do you expect? But if you want us to be able to back it up for 100% certain, you're waiting for the wrong thing. There is no such thing as 100% certain in science, because it's not a dogma. Evolution is not a dogma, it is a process that is backed up by facts and evidence. But it needs a certain uncertainty for whenever we find new evidence, so that the theory might be adapted. It doesn't mean a start from the beginning, just an adaptation, addition and eventually small correction.
So there for there is no hardcore proof of evolution.
Hmm.. well we did observe evolution directly on bacteries. So we know it does happen. We haven't found out every little detail about it, that's why research is still done on it. But that does not mean it is wrong, right? I mean, is the earth flat? Are genetics all wrong? Is medicine only hocus pocus?
Which question was that? Oh and i dont really know about this that much but it just came to me... Did Darwin ever say that we can from apes? I just cant recall him ever saying that we did...
