Hi everybody! This Forum Game is based in the series "House MD".
It works like that: I tell the symptoms and the users try to find out what disease is. They may look on other sites to find out. As House's diagnosis are too complicated, the diseases here will be easier. Each user have 3 guesses. Let's begin...
Patient: 30-year-old female.
Symptoms: Severe headache, nasal congestion, toothache and lacrimation (she is tearing for no apparent reason). Facial X-Ray is showing an anomaly.
Can you discover what it is? Tip: is a common condition caused by inflamation of the facial bones.
1st Maverick4 with 375pts (5x guess [diagnose now worth 90pts instead of 130 (by following the 5th guess rule)]) 2nd Hypermnestra with 360pts (4x Guess) 3rd MrStuff with 235pts 4th dair5 with 20pts (guess)
Both diseases affect the brain and the spinal cord. The patient is having trouble on its Peripheral nervous system and not on the two cited earlier.
(Technical comment: On the rigth disease's page, it states that it belongs to the GM2 Gangliosidoses group, but on this group's page on wikipedia, nothing is stated about it. Weird :P)
The one who said "Tay-Sachs" and "Sandhoff's" is very close.
ULTIMATE TIP!
As opposed to gangliosidoses such as Tay-Sachs disease or Sandhoff disease, which affect the brain and the spinal cord, [CENSORED] is a predominant disease of the peripheral nervous system. Histology reveals a diffuse swelling of the Nodes of Ranvier in peripheral nerves preferably in the upper limbs, which goes hand in hand with a decrease in function and sensitivity.
[CENSORED] is a very rare presumably hereditary disorder, which belongs to the group of GM2 gangliosidoses and was first mentioned by [CENSORED], MD. in 1882.
The etiology and pathogenesis of [CENSORED] remain unclear since only 10 cases have been reported worldwide.
from it's page on Wikipedia. C'mon guys! THE POWER OF GOOGLE COMPELS YOU!!
