Hi! This is Alexis again. As many of you AGers know, I have a writing thread called Alexis' Assorted Writings.

Well, now I have one for my doodles/ paintings/ anything else I somehow make that somehow qualifies as being art!

Here's my first one:

Hopefully it will work. Its well known that I suck at posting images.

I am truly flabbergasted with how talented you are... my dabbling in Paint comes nowhere near your level of art! I can only bow to your fantastic skills... =)

Oh... and you may want to keep an eye out for the new contest coming up!

Wow thanks! I'm taking a class right now called "intro to digital art and design" and we have to use Adobe illustrator and Photoshop which have significantly more tools than paint so it could just be that you are limited by the program. I have pretty much no idea what I am doing at the moment and I'm just kind of fumbling through the class so hopefully I'll get the hang of it eventually. I'm working on this at the moment and I'm hoping it turns out nicely but at the moment I am extremely limited by my skill with the program. I can binge watch tutorials and still have no idea what I'm doing

So far it still looks great @Alexistigerspice! Even if you don't know what you're doing... which pretty much says it all if you ask me! =)

And I am indeed limited by using Paint, but I simply don't have the time to get familiarised with a new better program, so I'll stick with what I know and make the best of it. Who knows what the future may bring...

Keep up the awesome work!! Oh, and... the new theme for the Armatar Contest is "Animals", which suits you perfectly if you ask me!! =D

Adobe illustrator and Photoshop

I had to use those for one of my digital classes, but I'd missed the first two weeks so I'm almost as confused as you are. I think people use tablets a lot to draw in PS and make it look nice.
Mostly, I used AI, and just made monochrome vector things that looked cool, so I can't really help...though I know that the magic lasso thing is super helpful for outlining things. (The pen tool is better more accurate, though, so I hope you have the patience to make it pretty) So maybe you could've cut out the ravens and just left them sketchy, or stuck a semi-transparent shape over them (conforming it to the exact lines would be a pain, but that's what the pen tool's for), and then take your uncolored-or-gray-ish ravens and then stick them on a background like the one you already have. I don't know. Do what you like.
Oh, and according to my teacher, the pen tool is Very Important.
that didn't really help did it

Yeah that hasn't actually told me anything i don't know already lol.. but thank you! I did a sketch in one layer in blue pencil using a tablet to set up an outline for me to trace with the pen tool in another layer and then i did some rough coloring and added in the background in a third layer so I could tweak it without messing with the actual raven. More progress, this is what it looks like printed. Needs a little more tweaking but i am almost done. I'm going to add a strand of pearls in the background and soften the highlight running down the raven's body so it doesn't look so harsh in comparison to the wing and the background. it obviously printed a lot darker than it showed up on the computer

Look at these beautiful caramels I made. You can't tell me that cooking isn't an art formhttp://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x385/Alexispiceytiger/caramel_zpsa5fdaa87.png

theres one problem with cooking as an art form. When it comes to digital media...i cannot use my other senses :P so I couldn't judge good food...art solely of how it looks
