Last year you were just an ordinary bum on the street, but then the planetary government went and conscripted you into their exploration service. After a six month training program you are ready. You get given your assignment, find a rare metal, rumored to exist on a distant planet, and bring it back. But, right before you set out, you learn that the governments of other planets as well as space pirates are also after this metal, you must beat them to it.

I get a knife if I have no knife I make a makeshift knife (piece of metal, etc.). I try to distinguish a pattern in the checks and mine in between their checks. If there is no pattern I try to sneak up on the pirates and kill them by stabbing them in the windpipe so as to stop them from being able to speak or warn others.

There is a small amount of Unobtainium, about 100 kilos, and a lot of Diamond. You carry back samples to be analyzed and send the results back to your government. However, you find out your home planet was attack by your mortal enemies, the entire navy was wiped out and the cities razed. Because of this you now sell your minerals to merchants, getting whatever they are willing to give you. Cargo Space stat unlocked. Do you want to mine as much Diamond as you can, or get some unobtainium too? (unobtainium can only be sold to more advanced planets.)

You can't kill the pirates because it will be known as soon as they don't check in. All the pirates check in every six hours. You take a sample back to your ship, and discover a nice source of Titanium. You take it back to your ship and analyze it. After wiring the results in you get given 50 Univerchips. (You would of got more if not for the pirates.) There are no more minerals on this planet, so do you want to go to the other one (high predator presence) or leave the system?

I think that when we're givin our government type, I believe that they should be named and what their enemies are called and what they stand for. Another suggestion. I'm very curious about my starting government.
We'll try to fit in a reasonable balance of Unobtaniom and Diamonds. Meanwhile, I tell the guys the news. "Guys, my government's homeworld was destroyed. We're out of jobs. What do ya's think we should do?"

Yep I go to the high predator system. Once in the planet's atmosphere I pick a landing spot near the mining area. (do these predators get frightened by large noises? if so then I use the ships guns to create said noise at the area of landing)
you can name your own gov, but I will provide enemies.

You fill Keer's ship with unobtainium and the other two with diamond. You go tell your allies the situation, Zago says,"that is bad news, but I know a merchant who might be able to get us a good deal." after this Keer tells you, "don't worry, life as a freelance isn't that bad, you just need to make the right friends. Or you could try to find another planet to work for." So, do you get in contact with Zago's friend, or just try to find a merchant on your own?

There are several big supply stores as well as several gun shops. Or you could go to one of the taverns and see if any of the other pilots know about any minerals. What do you do?

If I dont, then I shore up the walls for an hour then I work on extracting as much minerals as I can before the animals show up, I make sure I can quickly reach back to my ship at all times.

I shrug. "What the Hell, we don't have anything to lose. Let's f*****' do it." I answer. I insist to the natives to accept my gift of twenty supplies. Then we proceed to meet up with this merchant.
