Combat The combat in this game is simple. Roll the dice, count in the modifiers, and calculate the result.
Weather: -2 for Light Snow, -5 for Snow, -10 for Blizzard -1 for Light Rain and Rain, -5 for Storm -3 for Heatwave, -10 for Deadly Heatwave
Landscape: -1 when attacking in hills -1 when attacking in dense forests/vegetation -1 when attacking over a river -4 when attacking in mountains
+1 when defending in hills +1 when defending in dense forests/vegetation +1 when defending over a river +4 when defending from a mountain
Stats: Attack adds to a dice roll. For example, if someone rolls a 6 and they have an attack stat of 2 their roll will turn into 8. Defense lessens attack from a dice roll. For example, if someone rolls a 6 and the defender a defense bonus of 2, the enemy dice roll will turn in to 4.
Generals and Admirals: Generals and Admirals can add attack, defense or both to your dice rolls and armies, depending on how much money you will spend for one and how naturally talented they are.
Armies: Armies use a number based on how much soldiers they contain. For example, an army of 5,000 will be 5 on a dice or in a battle.
Your weapons are pretty much 1000's weaponry and such. You can improve the weapons but it will cost gold to put research into it. Yes, the pope is in this game. He's in Rome. Rome and Sicily dislike each other, so they don't want to improve relations right now. You begin preparing the ships for the voyage for 10 gold, but you gain 20 more gold at the end of the month. Finally, yes, you can make alliances out of marriages. But you can mostly likely make marriages with countries that have monarchs that are accepted/primary religions, similar/accepted or primary cultures, good relations with you, etc.
I'd like to improve my relations with Rome then. Through diplomats. I'd also like to begin researching new weapons/armor/training techniques. I'm willing to spend 10 gold max.
Some diplomats are sent to Rome. They have excellent diplomacy, so they easily get on the Roman's good side. You start research on new and innovative weapons and armor. You invest 10 gold into the research, but gain another 20 gold at the end of the month.
Also just a little info. To become an Empire you have to conquer at least 2 countries and incorporate them into your country. But you also have to be a certain size as well. Meaning you can't be the smallest country and an Empire at the same time. It doesn't really make sense.
You improve your relations with Rome again. England is on the brink of collapse, Scotland surrounds London, while Castille and Paris terrorize it. Your troops want to join in the Siege of London.
The siege goes on for about a week, and after long fighting, Irish and allied forces break through defenses and capture the city. King Egbert is taken prisoner by Irish forces. Paris and Castille continue to occupy the city. Scotland moves back home.
We place the king in jail and set a public execution for next month. I propose we split the territory four ways and I ask if I can take some ships too help improve my navy. Lastly, I tell Irish forces to take all valuables from the palace and any museums and order them to raid all banks and take all valuables. There is also no orders on how to handle civilians, my troops have their choice.
Next, I send an Alliance treaty to Rome.
Finally, now that the war is over I divert my resources to funding the voyage to Iceland and technological improvements.
