You read a chapter that says that the creature is called a Xundaer, and that they are a kind of demon that will eventually destroy the world unless someone somehow stops them. Then you examine the sword. The blade seems to be made out of runes with strange, glowing markings on it.

The soldiers stop. 10 feet in front of the group, with coal black skin and glowing red eyes, is the Xundaer.

A security guard says "I tried to stop him, but by the time I saw him he was already leaving. He had a green shirt on, and he was cut by some broken glass." He points to some broken glass and blood on the floor, then goes into another room. The innkeeper sees you. "Can you go find the thief and get the money back? He might be in the doctor's house, getting his cuts bandaged. We'll let you have some of the money if you get it back. Just don't kill him, we don't want to get a bad reputation."

Objective: Get the money back from the thief in the doctor's house. Do NOT kill him.
Reward: 200 Gold, 3 free Beers

You run up and attack. You expect it to disappear and reappear behind you, but for some reason it doesn't move and you hit it with the sword. Blood spurts onto the ground, and the creature disintegrates into nothingness before your eyes. The soldiers stare at you. "Umm..." starts one. "Was that it?" continues another. "Didn't seem to be worth our trouble." says the captain. "Let's go back and inform the king." They start going back. Incredible, you think. When the human hit it, with his sword, it barely did anything to it. But when you used this sword it completely disintegrated!

I walk back in awe as I realize the sword nullifies the things powers. I am overly enthusiastic as I tell the king my epic tale. I also equip my sword along with my bow as my weapon.

He has a small bag of coins next to him, which is probably the stolen money. Getting it away from him without anybody seeing might be tricky. "Stay here." the doctor says, and he moves to another room.
