-----Warning-----

This game is pretty darn complicated. Use detailed posts for better story. Also try to keep your grammar clean and use punctuation. Everyone makes typos, but when u type liek dis its frustrating. Thanks.

-----The Game-----

You live in a small settlement in the middle of a desert, in this strange setting of a universe where there live strange creatures that are part machine and part monster. You must survive with your allies, gathering resources and fortifying your home when it's light, and defending it from endless waves of creatures when night falls. You will need food, water, weapons, and whatever you can get to survive.
Firearms are rarer than melee weapons.

-----Info-----

-This is multiplayer, and you must work together.
-No player limit decided yet, but probably no more than 10
-You have needs. The obvious ones are food, water and rest, but you will for example need to keep yourself from going insane by doing some activities and stuff.
-Turning against other players is.. well, it's a possibility you can take, but it's rarely a pleasant one.
-If your sanity goes too low, the story will be different for you than the others. For example, you might get "Bob calls you an idiot." while the player of Bob actually said you fought well. Worse than that is you partially lose control of your character, but this is only if you're really insane.
-The creatures get stronger the longer the game goes on. You will want to be prepared.
-Some items don't have weight. Bolts and ammo, for example.
-The art is all done by me

-----The Map-----

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg20/scaled.php?server=20&filename=settlementofdustmap.jpg&res=landing

This is where you live. About 4 Square kilometers of desert, a river going trough it, with forests and mountains around it. And you live in the middle. Next to the river.
You can see a red danger-zone marked on the map around the desert, this is where the creatures are. Staying away from the danger-zones is recommended, but unfortunately the forests are pretty close to them so getting wood and other resources can be risky.
Even if you don't go near the danger-zones at all, the night will make the creatures run wild, and that's when they will attack your home, despite your actions.

The whole area around your home can be used for constructing more buildings and defenses. It's all in your use, and it's very much advisable to do something with it. For building, you will need materials like wood, metal, fences, bolts, anything you can scavenge from abandoned houses and such (not marked on the map). The forest is also a main resource gathering area.

-----Fighting-----

Fighting is very much final fantasy like. You decide what you use and who do you use it on, and it does certain things. Usually damage. You can miss too, this mostly only happens with ranged weapons.
Fighting outside your home without the shelter is way more dangerous - only do it if absolutely necessary.

-----P.I.G-----

You are all equipped with a PIG. I mean the Portable Information Gadget. This device is like no other, all you need to do is ask about something you want more information about and you get it. Be it creatures or how long a human can hold their bladder. It's like the pokédex of tomorrow.

-----Diseases-----

Some of the creatures may carry diseases. Look out for signs of infections, or you might be in for a bad trip with a case of lungburst. You don't want to get that one, believe me.

-----Storage-----

You have a limited amount of storage space, and so does your inventory. This means you have to build more storage space if you run out. (The amount of space in the storage and your inventory is shown right after their names in [ ].

-----Skills-----

There are a LOT of skills in this game. But don't let this overwhelm you, those skills get better as you use them. Basically you don't have to worry about your skills until you notice something isn't working, then you need to start practicing on that skill. It's simple, really.

-----Settlement Sheet-----

Only the host (me) posts this. I will post it at the end of every round (By round I mean a bunch of actions by players).

Settlement:
Health: 100%
Storage[8/15]: Lead pipe, Bolts(5), Wrench, First-Aid Kit, Baked beans(2), Bottle of Water(3)
Buildings: Wooden House (small)
Residents: Unknown

With more buildings you get more storage space and your settlement has more health.

-----Character Sheet-----

Name: First and last
Gender: Male or Female, duh

Stealth: 10 (How silent you can be, how well you hide, etc)
Construction: 10 (How well you can build stuff)

----------

I believe that's everything. I realize it's complicated, but we'll see how it goes. Post your character sheet first, then I will start your game. Any questions, ideas, anything, I will be glad to answer.

Oh don't worry about it! I once met a guy who tried to write a story about my game, he was on day 15 when I was still trying to tell him to fix his character sheet! And when he finally started playing, he threw a stick in the air and sat on sand for the rest of the game. As long as you don't do that, you're fine. Give it a try.

But if you do decide to leave, then thanks anyway.

Heh, I know I let in a character that's based on a vampire, but "Blazing Penguin" is a little too much :P Make a realistic name, if you will. Also, it's a little difficult to change your skills based on those traits. Pick something that directly effects them, like the others did. Otherwise, I see no problems with it.

This game shouldn't be too hard, it's rare that you would actually die completely unless you really don't think of your actions at all, then I'll punish you.

Alucard III Dalv is actually Vlad III Dracula backwards, better known as Vlad the Impaler.

After the well thing I collect resources again

.. Wait, what? Did you even read what I said?

Before you leave to the forest, you need to decide which forest you go to. There's a forest near your house, but it's on the other side of the river. And the other forest is more far away, but there is no river blocking the path.

Which way do you go?

Also, remember to post your character-sheet at the start of every message.

-I had a weird/interesting idea, but only if you want to use it:
The players could decide roles withing each other, roles like hunter, leader, builder, and anything like that. This would make player interaction pretty interesting, and there could be a completely player driven economy system. If it works. Tell me what you think, again, it's just an idea.

I just remembered that strength let's you carry more stuff. Every 2 extra points in strength gives you 1 more inventory space. Since you now have 15 strength, you have 12 inventory space. Sound good?

You go inside the house just as a cool tall guy with a lead pipe comes out.
In the house you see a green worn couch next to the door, 2 dusty wooden chairs and a small creaky table. The windows have been barricaded, and it's much darker inside. You also see a toolbox in the corner, and inside it some bolts, a wrench, 2 baked bean cans and 3 water bottles. A first-aid kit is laying on the floor next to it.
There is a closet in the house so you check it. In there, you can note that some of the wall planks are loose, And you could probably escape through here in a bad situation.
Unfortunately, you don't find anything sharp and long. You might want to look around the house.

Remember, you don't need to post the settlement sheet, that's my responsibility.

You grab the pipe and leave the house, as a tall pale vampiric character in dark clothes enters. That guy gave you the chills, but it's quickly removed by the immense hotness and brightness of the outside. You see a short guy with black hair standing in front of your house, and the ginger haired big guy to the left of you. You introduce yourself to him as Greg Bonaducci, and then head to the forest on the other side of the river. You have to swim there, which takes some energy, but at least you aren't as hot anymore. (Swimming +1)
You continue walking to the forest, and finally arrive. You collect any resources you find, including branches, vines, Mushrooms... Then you find a lost backpack. The backpack contains some rope, a crowbar and a butterfly knife. The backpack also gives you +5 inventory space when in use.
Then you get back to the house and swim over the river once more. You're tired and wet, but you got a lot of useful resources. Carrying all that stuff also made you more 'strengthy'. (Strength +1)

I see. I was confused there for a second.

You decide to go to the forest on the other side of the river, but before you leave, that cool guy comes from the house comes out with a lead pipe in his hand and introduces himself to you as Greg Bonaducci. You think it's a pretty cool name. He comes with you to the forest. You have to swim over the river, which burns you out, but at least you aren't so hot anymore. (Swimming +1)
When you get to the forest, you start gathering resources. You only find some branches and a stray water bottle, but you also find blood and animal tracks. You try to follow them, but you fail to do so and give up. (Hunting +1)
You then leave the forest and get back to the house, having to swim over the river once more. At the end of this trip, you are tired and wet, but you and Greg got a lot of resources.

I put the Crowbar and the Butterfly Knife in the storage for someone to grab any weapons they need, and I also put the branches and vines in the storage, in case someone finds a use for them.

Then, if I see any of the other survivors that I haven't seen yet, I introduce myself to them; even the tall pale guy in the black cloak.

After that, I rest unless someone needs my help or until any danger appears.

I grab the butterfly knife, the crowbar, some vines, and branches, along with planks of wood to make a make-shift sword/rapier. Diagram below. Then I practice fighting with it on forest animals, whom I then bring back.

-So, no opinions on the economy system anyone? I can see clear potential for an Engineer, a Leader, a Hunter, a Sniper, a Warrior/Knight, and another engineer. You could use these specialties in your advantage.
-You might want to start chopping down some trees at the forest to actually get some wood from that, instead of using loose planks, but you will need an axe of some sort for that though.

I'd like you to be aware that I don't like metagaming. this is when you use your own knowledge to benefit your character, with things that your character doesn't actually know. For instance here, you want to get planks from the closet, when your character doesn't actually know about the planks in the closet. I'll see it trough my fingers this time, but keep the metagaming to a minimum.

You pick the sharpest branch for use as a weapon. You might want to sharpen it or something to make it better, but that's your call.
You then go to the closet to get the planks, but notice that the dark clothed pale guy has already taken them and is making some sort of a make-shift weapon using them and some other gear like a crowbar, a butterfly knife, branches and vines.
Greg is introducing himself to the pale cloaked guy. That reminds you, even though Greg introduced himself to you, nobody here including Greg still knows your name.

What do you do?

You deposit most of the resources in the storage, and the tall pale guy quickly comes and takes them. You use this moment to introduce yourself to him: "Greg Bonaducci, nice to meet you." (Charisma +1)
The guy has put the stuff on the table and is busy trying to make some make-shift weapon out of them, but he nods. (The other player needs to decide to tell you their name before you can know them as someone else than "Tall pale guy".)
That big ginger-haired guy that you introduced yourself to earlier also comes to watch what the pale cloaked guy is making.
You then decide to go take it easy on the sofa. (You are no longer tired, but you are still wet.)

You head to the river, while the cool tall guy and the big ginger-haired guy start walking towards the forest on the other side and swim over the river. You look for supplies around the river area, and you find an iron axe head. You could probably make an axe out of that, since it is in pretty good shape. You also find an old rusty metal claw of some sort with blood and skin around it. It's small and useless so you throw it away, but there are tracks leading away from this. Do you want to follow them? Seems to work.

You arrive at the settlement. Why you came here, you can make up your own mind about that, but what happens now is what's important. It's late day and the sun is still shining brightly. Don't forget your sheet.

You rip the planks off the closet wall, leaving a small escape hole that leads to the outside. The tall cool guy has just brought in the equipment you want to make this thing, so you take them and set them all on the table. (Strength +1)
You start trying to combine all of it together using the vines, as the tall cool guy says to you:
"Greg Bonaducci, nice to meet you."
You being busy with the construction, you only nod, but you might want to answer him too so people start knowing your name around here.
Soon after, the big guy with ginger-hair stands next to the table watching your crafting.
It's all together now. You lift it... It wobbles.. It falls apart! Too bad. (Construction +1)
Maybe you should try asking someone else who can craft better to make the weapon for you. Or you can just keep trying yourself.

Also, not that my opinion should matter your choice, but I personally think there could be some better uses for these materials. Just saying.
